DryMango: What pissed me off years ago was when EA decided to make the original Command and Conquer free, but did nothing to give it any support whatsoever.

I would love for there to be an open source Command and Conquer. Not just the original nor Red Alert, but also Tiberian Wars and a couple of their later games. Absolutely loved Tiberian Wars back when it came out.

Having Diablo 2 get a remaster and a good modding community would be a pipe dream. But nope.

Lord_Kane: There is Open RA, which supports CNC, RA 1, Dune 2000, and Support for Tiberian Sun is coming too, and Red Alert 2 and Yuri's revenge support has entered initial stages, sadly unless someone gets the balls to reverse engineer CNC 3's engine...it would be nice.
Every game Westwood Studios made before EA gutted the company that will have open source, modern support will be extremely nice.

The first three Warcraft games and the first two Diablo games to get the same treatment would also be nice, even though they are Blizzard property.

Funny that both companies which were the fathers of RTS games would end up getting owned and beheaded by EA and Activision respectively. Blizzard is still doing their thing with WoW and their Hearthstone game, but they were definitely a lot better when they were independent.

As a freebie. :)

Tarm's avatar always reminds me that we need the Dawn of War games here because it kinda looks like the Dark Angels insignia https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4232/35076300184_e75ec7c4a3_b.jpg
Not that the Dark Angels are in the DoW campaigns unfortunately :P
Dick measuring thread? Count me in!

In all seriousness, regardless of what they do, GOG will never be able to please everyone. But at least they're starting to listen (somewhat).

Well I am waiting for a Raven Guard army to arrive from Ebay. :)
high rated
Gog galaxy is the best thing that gog could do because it increased the audience of players but being optional and keeping the no drm.

Introducing achievements, cloub save and other options was an absolute success. And they are also options.

It is the best of gog does not force you to anything but admits all kinds of players.

Very cool and interesting choice :) It would be difficult for me to decide between Salamanders, Imperial Fists or Dark Angels for an army, if I ever got so far as to build one :P
Honestly Galaxy, like it or not, is needed to int-ice gamers who have just gotten used to client programs (hell here are gamers right now who have no idea that DRM is a bad thing).

Not having a client with achievement support, quick installation, and access to social features is a deal breaker for many gamers these dies and in order to grow GOG needed to add the feature.

Online stores are very volatile (especially with more and more developers opening there own stores to avoid paying additional fees to places like Steam and even here) so GOG really has only two options:

1. Grow the site to include features that the majority of gamers/developers appear to want.

2. Die.

I would say brace yourself in 2019 cause if The Epic Game Store and other Publisher stores do well we can expect to see more changes here to cater to the more casual crowd.
I love GoG Galaxy too. It's great that I no longer have to keep track of what's been updated or not because the Galaxy client does it for me. It's also good that it's optional for those that want to do it themselves. But I've been a gamer since 1987 and I can't be bothered doing that shit anymore (finding patches and fixes). So love the client.

I've been here for almost 10 years and things change - that's just a fact of life. People generally don't like change but most businesses can't stay the same and got to improve and expand. It's the same with GoG. Some changes are good and others I don't care for like all the new Indie stuff. But I'll just ignore the stuff I don't like.

Raven Guard aren't very common, they're not overhyped like some of the other founding chapters and they have a easy and clean colour scheme. Also I liked the army composition on the one I bought. Should be different to play than Craftworld Eldar which is my current army.

DryMango: I feel that GOG has gotten worse these past few years. I see no point in GOG Galaxy when we already have the GOG downloader.
No point for us customers. The opposite for GOG. With Galaxy they can actually know what you actually play and when do you play it. They even can check your savegames. All that is valuable information nowadays. Compare it to Facebook. This information is of interest for publishers and for GOG itself. Interesting meaning sellable.

After much nay-saying and FUD and what-ifs and generalized worry (myself doing some of that), gotta admit that it has turned out pretty much exactly as you say, almost entirely for the better. Really great that it has remained optional for all but some online multiplayer.

I don't use Galaxy, and find that the unsupported Downloader is a good tool for my needs. Used it to get all of my sale downloads accomplished except for the big Bioshock games, and it worked flawlessly with our slow connection. Thanks to gOg for keeping it around, and for continuing to provide Downloader links in our libraries.

Blerch yuck, Eldar... the biggest pain in the ass in Dawn of War :)

I'll admit I had to look up who the Raven Guard were so I totally get that they're not as common/popular. But I recall seeing their name every now and I always read it too fast as 'Blood Ravens' from DoW. Speaking of which, are these considered canon by the tabletop community? I've always thought they've got the coolest colour scheme of all the chapters.

apehater: long story short, gog managed to get much lower then steam, ubi or bethesda, by puling the same shitty scams but still presenting to its customers like it is the good old games store from 2008.
I don't know, so far nothing I've paid for vanished from my Gog library. Can't say the same about Steam.

You mean The Bloody Magpies, successor chapter of the Thousand Sons with chapter history amnesia? That basically sums up what the tabletop community says about them. That is they are mostly ignored. Never met a Blood Raven tabletop player myself and haven't asked or looked for what the general community thinks about them so I really can't say if they're thought of as canon or not.
