Somehow those absurd "if you don't like sexism in video games, no one forces you to buy video games" arguments ring in my ear right now.

They were directly insulted, then assaulted and defamed afterwards. Sure, they could have just left if they wanted to be doormats.

They could have gone for millions in front of an American court, BTW. Had they somehow accused the press in any way, maybe Peter Thiel would have financed their lawsuit.

Freedom of speech. In the American plutocracy. Hah.

Bullshit bro this is America not Germany they would of lost. Think about the implications with that decision now in Canada.... I can't do stand up because if your there to just fuck with my act and I flip and say just one curse word towards you I can get sued. Thats messed up.

Can't talk about sexism in games because I don't know anything about the subject.

Games and comedy two different things. One is made with a small to huge group of people and the other is just a person giving there take on a certain subject.

Vainamoinen: It was a clear cut case of assault
Okay, there's no way to avoid this sounding insincere, but I promise that it's a legitimate question:

Why is breaking someone's sunglasses clear cut assault and throwing a drink at someone isn't? That makes absolutely no sense to me.
I think this thread about moderation will get some... well... moderation pretty soon O.O

And about that freedom thing... Nah, forget it ;)

Emachine9643: So now it might be the KKK but what happens if I stand up and say "hey I don't care that trans people use the same bathroom and who cares who sticking what in where?" but they don't agree knowing that I might be attacked.
Since this was mentioned, I should point out that trans people just don't assault cisgender people in bathrooms; that just doesn't happen. Instead, it is far more likely for a trans person to be the victim of an assault.

In places that have laws specifically allowing trans people to use the correct bathroom, there haven't been any reports (according to the police) of people using said laws to their advantage.

In other words, if you are cisgender, sharing the bathroom with a trans person does not put you at increased risk.

You could try watching Feminst Frequency's videos on the subject.

I didn't interpret your question as insincere. An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm. The comedian leaves the stage, walks right to the desk of these seated women, continues to scream at and insult them in the worst way possible. Nothing at this point was or was even meant to be humorous. Not sure what stand-up routines are like in Canada, but they surely don't comprise continuously screaming "fucking cunts," "stupid cunts," "stupid dykes", "fucking dyke cunts", "fucking stupid dyke" or "stupid fucking bitch" at your audience at their desks, so the free speech claim here was bogus to begin with. The Human Rights tribunal ruled discrimination, rightly so. The Human Rights tribunal said the women were physically intimidated and cornered. Rightly so. Plus, imagine the situation that someone considerably larger and way more aggressive than you is picking your glasses right from your nose and breaks them. That's strictly a threatening display of male dominance. Who do you think was more terrified in that situation? Who do you think felt a threat of bodily harm and who definitely didn't? You're living in a country in which since 2001, more women in the US were killed by their male partners than US citizens have died in 9/11, the Irak and the Afghanistan war combined. I really don't see how the response of the two women - to throw liquid at his clothing - constitutes in any way a similar aggression, a threat of bodily harm, or therewith assault. These are completely different weight classes.

Damn straight.

Germany lost some four ranks last year... because of... yup, right wing terror against the press. Need to lock these people up quick.

I much prefer watching social justice warrior fail videos on YouTube.

So much outrage and failure.

It would constitute assault here and they would be charged.

Quick question - how many times does a certain somebody need to derail a discussion until the rules take effect?

Very good question.
My answer would be,it's up to the OP to nicely ask the derailer to desist immediately and if they don't report them. But then again my name is mud with them anyway.

Slight amendment,if the OP is okay with the derailing then mods leave it be,after all we aren't all incompetent.

I see what you're saying, but I had the impression it's not the OPs choice. What's the point of a moderator if they just sit there and wait for someone to cry about something... that kind of thing was how it went back when Judas used to close threads for people.

Rules looks clear to me! But reputation system always been weird for me. I understand that negative reputation is not good.
