misteryo: Political discussions going down in flames has been a problem on these forums for a while now. And people have different opinions about that. I find it annoying that the threads get so heated. Some people find it annoying that the threads get closed. It has driven some people away from the forum, but it is hard to demonstrate how bad it has been for forum participation.
=====================
However, if initialpresence and others are allowed to make GOG's forums a place where white nationalists are allowed to hang out and freely proselytize and argue and propound their views and bring in their links and sources... Then, it will be just a matter of time before that fact gets noticed and passed around the internet like wildfire.
====================
And then GOG will have a PR problem that they cannot handle.
====================
The forums will get shut down entirely. GOG's reputation will suffer immensely. And their sales will suffer, too.
====================
Even if you believe that even white nationalists deserve a spot on the internet where they are free to publish, this cannot be that place. They will bring GOG down with them.
The threads may get heated, but(from those i've seen) they usally stay self contained....as such(and assuming nothing illegal is posted) why close them? They serve to give such people(on both sides of issues) a place to vent and keep it from the majority of the threads in general.
==================
Hyperbole/logical fallacy/etc. None of that is 100% sure to happen(also others would likely go to less moderated sites to spread such beliefs).
==================
Why couldn't GOG spread such to their advantage? They could say that GOG forums allow freer speech than others(within the law) and still have a nice community for gaming/etc. They could bank all sorts of good PR/[profit from those into free speech above censored speech, if they played their cards right.

Sadly, though, most sites(including GOG, sadly) go the route of "censor x bad behavior(s)" and "apologize to Y group"(where Y group is the one it's more PC to be atm) instead of taking a stand for free speech(within reason) and standing by their customers(even the once with more controversial opinions).
==================
No they wouldn't(unless GOG did it to take a loss in one arena while saving face/making gains in another) unless they broke some national/international law.
=================
Not to be devil's advocate, but: If this isn't the place for such people, and the big 3(Twitter/Facebook/Youtube) aren't.....then where is? Heck, many banks/payment methods are banning people now for "wrongthink", making it nearly impossible for even well meaning citizens with controversial ideals from making a living and being heard.

SirPrimalform: As if SJW wasn't already a meaningless term, apparently it now applies to anyone who isn't willing to suffer white supremacist rants. Which is hopefully the majority of the human race.
It's actually(in conservative's eyes, mostly) applicable mainly to those who want progress, ANY progress(usually through getting upset over minor/non-issues, or inventing such anger to generate support), without any regard as to how it may detrimentally affect society(while forcing such through mobs/laws/deplatforming).

That's why we have people pushing for massive amount of unchecked migration(due to inclusiveness, equality, etc) without background checks or any sort of vetting(for the most part), positive discrimination via affirmative action and employment quotas(along with massive push for inclusion of various groups into every niche in media), etc.

Addition: I(and some others) don't dislike ALL SJWs, and am not saying there aren't ones with valid complaints and causes which I support and get behind. There are. But there are also alot of schiesters, con men/women, etc.

zwem: Yes, hopefully when you spam or insult you get warn and then ban.
I'm happy that the mod do their job.
There have been at least a handful of cases where a transgender person has been caught "manipulating themselves" in a shared bathroom because/when a cisgender person was in it as well, or where transgender individuals have assaulted(sexually/etc) cisgender people(or flashed them) in shared bathrooms(victims included MINORS, ffs).

And this has what to do with the forum rules? XD

ALINITYLITAS:
It has to do with the forum rules in that:
* It's off topic, which is a violation of said rules.
* It could be political, which would make it a violation of said rules.
* From the rules: "We don't tolerate hate speech":, which said post is also a violation of. There's also the rule against posting knowingly false information.

So, yes, the post does have to do with the forum rules, in the sense that it's a violation.

dtgreene: Unfortunately, as I posted earlier, this is sadly not the case.

GameRager: The issues you discussed earlier(iirc) were about people arguing about the latest EEs and addons for games with heavy political bias to them. As such, people are justified in arguing about such(within reason). I don't see that as trolling(if done civilly) or as bad as what is done in general from time to time.
There have been some rather unhelpful responses I've received from users on the forums in topics that aren't related to the EE and new expansion. Some people there seem to be against any real in-depth discussion of how the game works, for example.

I think that user replied to the wrong person(and meant that reply for me or dtgreene)

1. To be fair, you/myself/others went offtopic first by mentioning trans-issues and the like.
(I agree we should all get back on-topic, though)

2. How is trans issues political? It CAN be, but it is more a societal issue imo.
3. How is it hate speech to mention something bad that members of a group has done(even a protected group) for civil/illustrative/rebuttal reasons? Shouldn't we be about fairness in reporting and not hiding inconvenient truths just because they don't support one's view of a particular issue?

(And the info isn't false...there are several incidents where such has happened, which were reported by local news outlets. I will kindly refrain from posting such here and am stopping discussing such now to avoid causing waves or making this thread even more offtopic.)
=======================================
Well that kind of reply from others is just rude/uncalled for. I do hope you reported any rulebreaking posts such people made and ignored the ones who tried bothering you. :)

Not to be solely devil's advocate here, but: The person in question MAY be a spam-bot(I don't know as I haven't seen any spam by them personally), but that post was more offtopic than spam.

They literally copied and pasted part of your post without any original content dude, it doesn't matter whether they're a bot or not, they're still spamming.

Not to be mentally deficient, but as you two can see the spambot's post I referred to is 986. So, no I wasn't "wondering" if it was spam or thought "maybe" it's spam. It's obviously spam. It contains (let's count them: 1, 2, 3) 3 spam links. Report as spam. The same should be done for 984 so they don't come back in a week or so, and edit the links in. (Which has become popular here recently.)

Oh, no need to get a hard-on because the bot regurgitated part of your post. That's a standard spambot technique to try to appear even remotely relevant in a thread. In case of pedantry I don't care if it's a spammer or a spambot. The posts are spam. Report as spam.

Also, I don't like spam.

Dammit. I didn't notice the links. Yeah, that's spam. Sorry about that.
Might as well close this thread. :D
