I don't like speedruns, but the people who do it have my respect, because implies a great knowledge and hours of gameplay.

This is a great example:

Gourmet Gaming? :)

Bouchart: I've done one speedrun.

It's not something I do regularly and I doubt I'll ever do it again.
Sort of reminds me of Rodent's Revenge

Then speedrun are the Fast Food of Gaming :D
Like going to the corner store to buy beer during the commercials? Not since I got a DVR.
I watch speedruns (TAS and ordinary ones). As far as doing them, eh...not really.

I tried speed running Final Fantasy IV (GBA), and I only got 3/4 of the way before quitting (got like 3-4 hours in total).
There's was a Speedrun contest here the other week with Double Dragon. http://www.gog.com/forum/general/double_dragon_speedrun_contest_c2718

I dunno what happened with it. I guess Bimmy up and died.

tinyE: Every once in a while programmers will throw in characters getting bored from the player's slow style (I think MegaMan was the 1st time I ever saw this). Anyway I've become quite accustomed to seeing it. I love it in Tomb Raider Anniversary when I can make Lara yawn. :P
I'm playing through American McGee's Alice and I was fighting the Jabberwock yesterday. Before he appears I'm contemplating how I can beat him so I just leave Alice standing there idle holding her croquet mallet weapon - suddenly the camera whips around to face Alice, she looks right, then left, then grips the mallet in front of her with both hands, kind of winds up, and then conks herself in the head! Funny stuff.

Power Gamming?

Grind till your character is so over power that you break the balance of the game and laugh at them boss?

This is what I'm doing in my latest Fallout 2 playthrough ... then I got bored and no time...

Sleeprun?
I don't do it myself but i sometimes watch them. It depends on the game and or criteria though. I don't like speedruns where they just run through the game without doing anything. Like a doom speedrun with 0% kills, I don't like those.

Me.

Navagon: Speedrun? What I do is more like Slowamble... My videos would only be interesting to people looking for a cure to their insomnia.
This.

I've seen some speedruns... They made no sense.

Morrowind, like 7 minutes long. Half of it was getting through the intro and through the beginning part until you're let go.

Fallout, going to weird locations you have to have full knowledge of before hand, speedrun was 20 minutes or so.

SMB, using teleports to get to level 9, then just skipping everything until you got to the final room... Curiously i saw a playthrough that was a semi-speedrun where the whole premise was how low of a score you could finish with (it was something like 900 points).

Uh...I can't remember doing you. No offence, I'm sure you were great and all. Like me. But I must have been really drunk because I can't remember shit...

Ah. That might help to explain this post, then. ;)
