Ah well, I'm going to delete Mint and head back to Zorin.
Just my 2 cents here:

I use PlayonLinux to install games but not their install scripts because the wine versions in them are pretty old and the game usually doesn't work very well with them.

What I do is create the virtual drive using playonlinux (this prevents corrupting my original wine folder with the programs that are working with wine normally without tweaks), try to make it use the system wine version (which it installs into the virtualdrive) and then install the game using: "Run a .exe file in this virtual drive" in the miscellaneous tab. If the game works, all is well, if it doesn't work, I'll go to the playonlinux forums or even the winehq forums to figure out how other people got the game to work and then apply those tweaks to the playonlinux virtual drive. If the drive gets completely messed up, I can delete it and start over.

I've gotten all my games to work this way using trial and error. It's time consuming but hey half the fun in Linux is from being able to tweak and play with your system however you wish. Maybe even bork it completely and start from scratch again.

The playonlinux virtual drive system lets you choose between 32bit and 64bit wine versions (though you will have to enable wine32bit on your base linux system) and keep your windows versions separate as well. Some games work on XP but not 7 etc.

Another new thing I've been doing lately is importing the game into Lutris from the Playonlinux virtual drive and tweaking the runners to enable Vulkan and the "protonified wine" (don't use the Playonlinux shortcut after this or it'll undo the Lutris tweaks. Use the Lutris shortcut instead). This was the only way I could get Witcher 2 to run in my machine. The Lutris install script wasn't working.

Hope this helps someone.

<snip>
This is how I used to use PlayOnLinux (I even wrote a guide for it alongside my Mint guide but it's slightly outdated now), although I haven't used it for a long time as I now use Wine & Proton more directly via my own wrapper scripts.

UnderRail got updated to 1.1.1.1. Then before anyone knew what happened, it got updated to 1.1.1.2! I'm pretty sure it's gonna stop there for a while. Maybe!
Should have updates ready tomorrow :)

Not in any rush at all, I just thought I'd notify because, again, the second update (1.1.1.1 --> 1.1.1.2) was silent. GOG does that a lot lately or is it my idea?
The wrapper for UnderRail now supports the latest installers. In addition, winewrap.shlib has been updated with some minor improvements again for all wrappers and the wrapper for Deus Ex now includes an installer/start script for GMDX :)

I always try to update my wrappers ASAP when new installers are made available. And yes, GOG has developed a habit of silently updating games lately... it makes it difficult to keep everything updated and is very annoying :/

Most excellent news. Thank you!

Thank you for the update. Just installed it perfectly, runs smoothly.
Aaaaand of course UnderRail got an 1.1.1.3 update! I don't know, should I laugh, should I cry, should I smash my PC to pieces... :D :D

The wrappers for MDK and UnderRail (again) have been updated to use the new installers.
Two more games tested and seem to work great with the gogwrap generic script: STASIS and Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete.

No tweaking required.

I've finished "Ori and the Blind Forest" with the wrapper, only gamepad support didn't work, everything else was perfect.

Maybe we should compile a list of tested games?

Yeah, it's probably a good idea. :) But I haven't actually finished any of the games I've tested yet. They haven't crashed on me but I haven't played them to the end on the wrapper.
@Adamhm

Here's a fix for the problem in Jack Keane, maybe a wrapper for that would be nice, since that game has a certain special place on GOG, if you know what I mean. ;)
