China's global financial influence is probably the number one threat to the West right now, honestly.

China would be better off if the West outright took it over. lol

Hong Kong was better off than the mainland for a reason.

The West is more or less tied together when it comes to democratic norms, but the East is all over the place. Also China was supposed to be influenced by our culture and financial power, but it's mostly gone the other way.

At least that's a Western country.

China just needs to be more Western and less of a Communist shithole.

Oh Canada, Justine has allowed CCP troops to waltz freely in your lands, but yeah, America is the biggest threat right now.
We have BoZo, but at least he’s upfront about being a complete clown, it was part of his charm, shame he sold us out for some new clown shoes.

Niggles: A big ballsy move would be to close GOG off to chinese mainland market and see how that goes.
Or just sell it with regional restrictions to China. Not like they've never done it before.

The problem is the CCP and Chinese nationalists are pissed enough to want the game banned for everyone lest they access to the market. This is the only way to appease them.

I am ashamed of you GOG/CDP, I cannot believe you of all companies would do this...

I thought you stood for something, had principles...

Please reconsider this extreme surrender to China and their bloated corrupt government and dictator, are you really so easily bought off?

I haven't bought a single Steam game due to their disgusting censorship of customers and reviews and now you do it too?! Steam betrayed my trust, did not reconsider their disgusting censorship and silencing of agrieved customers in favor of corporations, so I dropped them.

This year I was so excited to further increase my game library by buying exclusively from you BECAUSE of your principles! And believe me, I bought A LOT of games from you as you can see. And I just got not 1, but 2! physical collector's editions of Cyberpunk for me and my brother to support this company. I looked past all the problems with the game, SEVERE and MANY crashes and bugs, because I still had faith in you, that you would eventually fix this. I did not complain anywhere, and I kept saying to all my friends, it's alright, they will fix this, they're principled developers and people, unlike companies like Steam and Blizzard. When I saw this my heart and faith sunk...

I sincerely hope you are still better than them and will change your mind, please fight the good fight with us, the entire world needs more beacons of hope, not more surrendering to tyrannical corrupt communist dictators, you as proud polish people know full well the cancer of communism!

With all due respect, and I do mean with all due respect, what they want doesn't mean anything to me. That ain't worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin gettin' it on.

Fang162: Dear GOG/CDPR, I have been on this site since 2015. Gog and Steam are the only platforms I purchase games from. Yes, I have more games there than here, but I've always felt like I truly owned the games I bought here. Today you made a decision to not sell a game called, 'Devotion,' and I'd like to know why. It's been floated around that 'gamers' were outraged about the game being released here. Why? Who are these gamers? Why are you letting them have a say in what games you want to put on your store?

You currently have a huge sale that I always try to partake in. Since you have decided to not allow a perfectly fine game on the store, I have decided to pull my money from purchasing any games on this site. Who knows, maybe those 'gamers' will buy many, many more games than I ever will but there must come a time where you have to ask yourself if you have a spine? Principals?

I suppose not. Anyway, it seems that there's been nothing but bad press over this (and the messy launch of Cyberpunk 2077) and all I can say is: I hope you get yourselves together. Fix your game and fix your attitude. Sell Devotion and show the world that you don't stand for censorship. Or don't. It's your choice.
It was also pulled from Steam some time ago. Not buying there as well?

Imho it was a bad decision by GOG, but keep in mind that almost all suppliers of goods/services who offer theirs in China as well (or have it manufactured there) have made consessions.

Edit:
@SLOFila - Ah. I wasn't aware they pulled it themselves from Steam. Leaves the question why it has not returned there. Clearly the developers feel it is ready for re-release. Maybe it is planned to release there tomorrow as well.

The developers themselves pulled it from steam and not steam themselves. At least according to the developers.

Yes, each country has a different position, but who is a threat to the world depends on what the country has done

Lifthrasil: But since GOG gratefully accepted the Epic-Dollars in their 'Epic-deal', they are now influencable by Tencent. Which is the Chinese governent. We don't know what exactly the 'Epic-Deal' encompasses, but it must have been lucrative for GOG. Otherwise they wouldn't willingly turn themselves into an Epic-subsidiary. So GOG isn't worried about some "gamers". GOG is just worried to lose the chinese money that they get through Epic.
I have never understood why in your eyes Chinese companies investing abroad is politically charged? While I don't support some overly strict censorship and bans by the Chinese government, games sold to Chinese players need to follow Chinese laws, and note that this only applies within China. This game is controversial, it can be shelved in a game area that is not Chinese and just not offered to people in China to play.
