Stretch your fingers, because you’re in for a long arcade ride. Today 8 classic games arrive on GOG.COM thanks to the collaboration with Ziggurat Interactive:

Bad Dudes vs DragonNinja is a side-scrolling beat 'em up from 1988 where the players take the role of the titular duo and set off on a dangerous journey to rescue "President Ronnie” from ninja kidnappers.

Express Raider is a side-scrolling arcade beat 'em up classic from 1986 that includes horse-riding and gun-slinging action. The game will surely put your reflexes and speed to the test as you work to beat each level in the allotted time.

Gate of Doom is a multiplayer action RPG originally released in 1990. You and your co-player take on the role of one of 4 heroes of prophecy, the knight Carl F. Graystone, the wizard Fraya Edirne, the bard Riger Hawk, or the ninja Kirikaze.

Heavy Barrel is a two-player arcade game from 1987 where your mission is to battle your way into the missile complex, secure and assemble the powerful Heavy Barrel weapon and use it to defeat a dangerous terrorist group.

Joe & Mac - Caveman Ninja is an exciting action-adventure title released in 1991. Pick up your clubs as you set off on a prehistoric rescue mission, braving a wacky world filled with flowing lava, rockslides, and primordial monsters.

Super BurgerTime is a two-player game from 1990 where you take the role of the legendary chef Peter Pepper Jr. Your main goal is to run through maze-like levels jumping on burger ingredients to add them together.

SRD - Super Real Darwin is a fast-paced, vertical scrolling shooter from 1987. Here you sit behind the cockpit of a fighter ship capable of mutating into different shapes as it evolves while fighting off hordes of enemy invaders.

Two Crude is a 1990 beat 'em up arcade game where you play as one or two mercenaries hired by the government to stop the terrorist organization known as "Big Valley'' from taking control of post-apocalyptic New York City.

Ready for a fascinating adventure across video game history? Until 9th March 2021, 2 PM UTC, all 8 games mentioned above are available on GOG.COM 33% off.
This brings back memories of my teenage years in the arcades.

Its funny, TIL that one of the two original titles for Two Crude Dudes is just Two Crude. I was puzzled at the missing Dudes until I went searching on the internet for the why. Hopefully we'll get more ports of classic arcade titles.
high rated
I bought Caveman Ninja and Two Crude and can confirm that emulation of those games is good and the roms are playable on MAME.

Great job, Data East/Ziggurat. :)

Are the roms separate, like the Neo-Geo GOG releases?
I recently got a fight stick for an arcade experience. I'll be grabbing these when I can.

Edit: I don't see controller support on the store page. Maybe it's in there but not listed? Can someone confirm if the games have it or not?

Kid Niki, Bump N Jump / Burning Rubber, Burger Time....
Data East is one of my favorite video game companies. There are so many games i would love to see here (Karnov, Trio the Punch, Chelnov, BurgerTime, Night Slashers, Outlaws of the Lost Dynasty, Fighter's History, Cliffhanger: Edward Randy, Bloody Wolf, Midnight Resistance, Sly Spy etc.). I hope these releases sell well and more will come here eventually.
I played those arcade games, back in the days... in the arcade.
It would be nice if we had the information about inputs !!
controller support ?? I suppose all those games support joystick / joypad but.. please give a clear information about this point !
I will never play an arcade game with... a keyboard !! yuk !

I created a wishlist entry for Fighter's History Dynamite / Karnov's Revenge here:

https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/karnovs_revenge

Fighter's History Dynamite is the only sequel to Fighter's History.

These games work great with an Xbox One controller. Just remember to assign the controller to player 1. :)

The MCU and PROMs are hidden elsewhere. Probably in the executable.

Paratech2008: Kid Niki, Bump N Jump / Burning Rubber, Burger Time....
I was about to say this exactly. Other than Bad Dudes, the selection of Data East titles debuting here is a bit underwhelming. Where's Fighters' History, Karnov, Chelnov, Windjammers, Magical Drop, and as you say Kid Niki and Bump N' Jump? These seem like some of the most obscure titles they could have picked, other than Bad Dudes. Actually, why ISN'T it the original Burgertime?

Ziggurat Interactive's contact page is here:

https://playziggurat.com/contact/

That's the quickest way to get in contact with them, as far as I can tell.
Just to comment:

- I new Bad Dudes as Dragon Ninja - probably that was the European title.
- Joe & Mac had actually a nice DOS port back in the day.
And as expected, these are half assed releases that give you an inferior experience to MAME.

I got to try Bad Dudes, and what you get is an awful, cheap UI and a choice between 'ugly, distorted, not-even-remotely-like-a-CRT filter' and 'blurry as hell'. No scaling options, no output res selection. Also I had to Alt-F4 to close the game because the in game quit button didn't work.

The games do run smooth at least and there are no full screen border graphics... but they're still poor efforts, and if Bad Dudes is anything to go by, they only come with outdated roms that are not viable in MAME anymore.
