CarrionCrow:
Thank you and may all the +1 be bestowed upon you, crafty crow!
+1 CarrionCrow for the tracker. These things are a a must over the sales.

On the sales. Does anyone else find the very dark grey front page feels incredibly depressing. Even with all the brightly coloured games images.

Well, to me it doesn't feel that way, since the color doesn't have that effect on me.
But at the same time, I can see how it wouldn't be the greatest for some people.
It has a basic utilitarian functionality to it, but very little in terms of vibrance.

I actually hit reload a few times on it this morning, I thought something wasn't downloading.

-laughs- I go by the progress indicators on the browser, since visual cues aren't exactly abundant.

I know the people at GOG have roughly 6.7 million more pressing issues to contend with, but I will cross my fingers that once the continent-sized amount of dust settles from all the projects they're doing, more appearance-related customization options will be made available.
No expiry apparently? That's weird. So we'll end up with one gigantic list of games by the end of the sale? That'll make for one hard to load front page...

Oh wait, there's an "ending soon" now. So they do end, just not when the next batch shows up.

Got Act of War, The Last Federation and TLF Betrayed Hope on the first round.

Got Bastion on the second round. I'm not big on action rpg but the price and glowing reviews got to me.

I'm still eyeing Bastion, but it's hard for me to justify on a limited budget when I have it at That Other Place. Also waiting on LoG II, although that one's because I have yet to play the first one... no matter how nice that discount looks, I know it'll be cheaper later on, by the time I'm ready to actually give it a shot. I picked up Apotheon, SimCity 4, Duke Nukem 1+2, and MI 2, and I'm afraid to think of what the rest of this sale will look like. So many other interesting-looking games already... but lots of them will be waiting until I see what the upcoming bundles are.

Yeah, trying to go a somewhat similar route. Holding off on grabbing certain things so I don't spend too much right at the beginning.
It's always a pain in the ass trying to plan when you don't know what's coming.

*nod* The DN and MI 2 purchases were due purely to the low, low prices, because I already had them on Steam - but I wanted to actually own those. I need to start working my way through the old Apogee games; out of the ones here, I think there's only one that I didn't play (and beat) back in the day. Lots of fond memories... and I just installed DN 1 to see just how badly my side-scrolling abilities on keyboard suck now. :D

Monkey Island 2 was the last Lucasarts game of the bundle that I didn't have, so that got picked up.
Wasn't planning on getting Duke Nukem 1 and 2, but I thought about it and it's part of a series I already have, so that picked up for the sake of completionism.

Other than that, I'm just keeping my eyes open and trying to not go after every low priority list item I see.
Not keen on the idea of blowing out all my money well before the sale's over.

I agree that a lighter gray would work better -- *especially* when the artwork isn't especially bright. It isn't depressing for me; it just doesn't work quite as well as it might. I just bought Trine 2, which is eye-candy (90% off!), and stuff like that really pops visually. But some games are more about a "dark" appeal. You can't design for everything -- just the prevailing trend. Actually, taking a look at this page itself, I think the background would be a good one.

Hmm, that's interesting. It would seem that the discounts don't end when the 'special' ends, they just get replaced on the front page by other offers.

The Last Federation and its sequel are still available at the sale price from (my) last night. I was hesitating then, but didn't want to buy them when I was tired and feeling pressured. Now I have time to think, and see what else is available.

At this rate they're going to end up with most of the games on the site on sale.

The first batch is marked as "Ending Soon". I expect that when the third batch appears (in 7+ hours), the first will disappear (only reappear later in the sale again and again probably in different combinations).
