Hey all! Please visit this thread for more up-to-date information: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/fallout_4_nextgen_update_is_coming_but_will_likely_be_slightly_delayed.

Right now, I can't unfortunately give you anything concrete.

The update proved to be more difficult than expected but we're determined to make it happen. We're actively working with Bethesda to bring it here. No ETA to give you though :/

Virgile: TLDR: We are considering freezing our build of Fallout 4 to provide the modding community with the necessary time to make their mods compatible with the last update.
Thank you so much for being so attentive to the needs of the modding community, but please consider doing the opposite: the latest and greatest version by default and with full offline installers and the previous one, best for mods, available on the beta channel. There are many other games on GOG which are updated first on other online shops and much later or never on GOG (one example: Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes), and new customers at a first approach could think Fallout 4 is also abandoned on GOG.

Thanks!

Or even better, both as offline installers so those who do not use Galaxy would still have access to the earlier 'best for mods' version. This could easily be placed under 'Extras' just like GOG has already done for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt 'Classic' version.

EDIT: Typo

I agree, this would be the best way. Much like the installers for Metro Exodus Enhanced and Darksiders Warmastered as well. As a collector and a completionist, this would be the best choice.
Seems like the modding community has stabilizes and several key mods have gotten next-gen compatibility updates.

Of those is F4SE, now at version 0.7.1. Mods will have to update their DLLs to become compatible with this new version, and many already have.

Addrss Library, High FPS Physics Fix, Weapon Debris Crash, Achievement Mods Enabler, and several others already have Next-Gen compatible updates. It seems that a whole lot of other mods were also Next-Gen compatible out of the gate as well.
It would be nice to hear something about the update status.
Maybe just some form of ballpark possible timeframe?
Are we talking days weeks or months?

They did say second week of May so unless it's released today an update would be appreciated. Personally I blame Bethesda as they should've worked with all retail outlets to get the update released on the same day.
Bethesda announced on Twitter that there will be an update on May 13th across all platforms, so hopefully we will receive the update sometime next week.
Only one question: WHEN?

Next gen update 2.0 just dropped, again bethesda said "all platforms". Everyone on Gog still waiting for first next gen update. Wtf is going on? Would we get both updates at once?
Why is it taking soo long?

Take another read of the first post in this thread. The first update was quite broken in addition to breaking mod compatibility, so was released as a beta branch for GOG Galaxy users.

I imagine given the poor quality of the first next gen update, GOG will wait and see if there are any major issues before making the new next gen update available.

Virgile: Salutations!

Hope you’re all doing well so far this week :)

Just sharing the current status of the Fallout 4 Next Gen update.

First of all, rest assured that both Bethesda and GOG teams are working on delivering the DRM-free version of this update as soon as possible.

However, we heard the feedback from the gaming community about the said update, that while bringing many useful improvements and additions, it sadly renders a tremendous amount of amazing mods unusable.

TLDR: We are considering freezing our build of Fallout 4 to provide the modding community with the necessary time to make their mods compatible with the last update.

The updated build, once greenlighted by both Bethesda and GOG, would be available via our GOG Galaxy beta branch system -and as an offline patch- to allow you to enjoy your modded version until you consider that the time is right.

Let us know your thoughts, wish you all a pleasant week.

Worm regards,

Virgile
"The modding community" does not need to make their mods compatible with the last update, so it would be better the current version (1.10.163.0) remains accessible. Also, 1.10.163.0 is what I purchased and I do not want another version, thanks.

Does Bethesda still make new original games ?
OK, so I go into the 'add-ons' section and it lists the DLC's. At the bottom it says hi res textures but it's greyed out. Will that come later???

I think you have to "buy" it for free from the store first.

No, the high res texture pack has nothing to do with the Next Gen Update
