I guess we will need to pick our own download manager for manual downloads eventually. Seems to be sooner rather than later. :( :(
I seem to be having more and more trouble lately with GoG Downloader, so since you mentioned it, do you (or anyone else) have recommendations for other download managers? I don't like the idea of having downloads and installs done automatically, so I'm really trying to avoid using GoG Galaxy.
GoG Downloader should still be working fine mostly. The titles that did have problems were sorted quickly bar DEFCON which took 1 month and 2 weeks or close but this too as you know is now sorted.
I agree completely, no way I am EVER going to put on galaxy and I don't want any auto installs or updates and whilst I understand I can turn all that off, I still don't want galaxy. I want to be able to login and download directly from a webbrowser and manually.
This of course leads us to the sad day the GoG Downloader will eventually stop working and then for small files we can just download direct but then for larger ones we need a manager. Hopefully people here can suggest some alternatives, the one I use is "downloadthemall!" which is a FireFox add on. There is a ! at the end of the title.
The only thing about this is I will miss the GoG downloader automatically naming the directory. I download them to my laptop, then copy to the archive HDs then delete the content from the laptop. I know the directory with any updates will be identical.
If I do this manually, I will need to track the folder names because when I copy it over to the HDs and wipe the laptop content, say in 5 months time when there is an update I will need to create the new folder again and it might not be the same name. Anyway a small problem but I really love the GoG downloader.
GoG said they are not going to maintain 2 versions so GoG Downloader will definitely go bye bye one day.
Lets see what other Download Managers bar the one I use (Downloadthemall!) people can suggest.
