It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

styggron: We will have to put this one down to "Can't download with the GoG downloader".
It does not work with the Galaxy client either. It says, "server error" after downloading file "setup_defcon_2.1.0.9.exe.download"

It did work downloading direct with Firefox 38.0.5, I had no errors installing from "setup_defcon_2.1.0.9.exe" (75,396,400 bytes) .

I'm not going to report this (again). My first ticket number was RH70SJK1, closed by GOG blaming my problems on .NET, though other games download fine with both clients.

Fighting GOG customer service :-( seems the attitude right now is the customer is an idiot, the kind of thing one gets from big companies...

Reopen the ticket don't let them get away with it.
I am reopening.
The MD5 hash is wrong. I use gogrepo and this fails to verify every time.

There seems to be a handful of files lately that don't have correct data on the server (Trine 2 Wallpapers, Eye of the Beholder II executable, and the Fallout Games that now have classic appended) which can make them bork on download.
I kept contacting support, they got back to me a few days ago apologising for the delay and that the problem is solved.

I just tried to Download DEFCON with the GoG downloader and it all worked fine.
My goodness I cannot believe it took so many people reporting it and this long to fix the problem, almost 1 month and 2 weeks :(

It's a little bit of a worry :(

Still, its fixed now. :)

Please report them and let them know. They have to know this. Oh also please tell them NOT to send you the first 2 stages of support "standard letters" as this is not an issue with your system.

Yeah, they fixed the MD5 hash already after someone else reported it.

Oh good! And the timing is good for me, since I just got home from being on the road! Thanks for staying on this, styg! :-)

I guess we will need to pick our own download manager for manual downloads eventually. Seems to be sooner rather than later. :( :(

I seem to be having more and more trouble lately with GoG Downloader, so since you mentioned it, do you (or anyone else) have recommendations for other download managers? I don't like the idea of having downloads and installs done automatically, so I'm really trying to avoid using GoG Galaxy.

Hello XJay73

GoG Downloader should still be working fine mostly. The titles that did have problems were sorted quickly bar DEFCON which took 1 month and 2 weeks or close but this too as you know is now sorted.

I agree completely, no way I am EVER going to put on galaxy and I don't want any auto installs or updates and whilst I understand I can turn all that off, I still don't want galaxy. I want to be able to login and download directly from a webbrowser and manually.

This of course leads us to the sad day the GoG Downloader will eventually stop working and then for small files we can just download direct but then for larger ones we need a manager. Hopefully people here can suggest some alternatives, the one I use is "downloadthemall!" which is a FireFox add on. There is a ! at the end of the title.

The only thing about this is I will miss the GoG downloader automatically naming the directory. I download them to my laptop, then copy to the archive HDs then delete the content from the laptop. I know the directory with any updates will be identical.

If I do this manually, I will need to track the folder names because when I copy it over to the HDs and wipe the laptop content, say in 5 months time when there is an update I will need to create the new folder again and it might not be the same name. Anyway a small problem but I really love the GoG downloader.

GoG said they are not going to maintain 2 versions so GoG Downloader will definitely go bye bye one day.

Lets see what other Download Managers bar the one I use (Downloadthemall!) people can suggest.

I definitely recommend: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gogrepopy_python_script_for_regularly_backing_up_your_purchased_gog_collection_for_full_offline_e

It does almost everything that GOG Downloader did (it doesn't support resume of partially download executables yet but the developer is working on it). The only downside is that doing a full update of your collection (rather than just getting new games and things marked as updated) takes a while (it takes about 4 hours for my ~600 games) due to having to pause between data requests to avoid getting you banned (if its too quick it looks like a DoS attack).

Unfortunately its kind of necessary to do full updates reasonably often since GOG doesn't mark things as updated unless they change the main download or add a patch. New/Updated DLC and Extras and changing of the folder name don't get marked so they won't be synched unless you do a full update.

Thanks for the info... looks like it's definitely worth checking out.
