NessAndSonic: I looked it up and it claimed it was on the 2010 version. Anyway, I tried running it again after installing it despite the errors. I'm getting one about DirectX 9 not being properly installed, despite running DirectX web setup and being told it's up to date.

Idarion: The problem with DirectX is that you need the exact same version an application was built with, which the web setup usually does not supply. I've now included the DXSetup that should install the correct version.
Even after installing the DirectX version that was bundled with the fix, I keep getting a "DirectX 9 was not installed correctly" error message. I checked, and there's a D3DX9_43.dll file in my System32 and SysWOW64 directories (I'm running Windows 8.1 64-bit).

Did anyone else run into this problem, and perhaps know a solution? I'd love to play the game without the stretching.

I recently updated the fix, changing the required Visual C++ Redist files. I thought I packaged the new dlls, but maybe I missed one(It unfortunately isn't as obvious which files one needs as with earlier version of MSVC). Can you try installing the redist manually: VC_redist.x86.exe from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=49984

Thanks for the quick reply! That C++ redist seems to have done the trick. Finally the stretching is gone. Excellent work on the fix (and your support).

Man, I got your fix from PC Gaming Wiki. Actually I'm using it over my GOG version.
It's an amazing work! Thank you! :D
Wow, this works perfectly, thanks a lot !
Widescreen Mod.
Might as well link the original source.
Using this fix causes my game to crash on start up. Help?
Works as a charm :)

I have some black lines on the sides but that's about it.
Excellent! I have small black bars on the sides but it looks GREAT on my 4k tv now! Thanks.
BTW I'm using this just fine with the Ubisoft version, not GOG.

It's actually not the same. I tried both. The one from WSGF introduced lots of visual glitches - the same ones I saw before I changed the compatibility mode of BGE.exe to "Windows XP Service Pack 3". With this patch, I no longer need to run in compatibility mode at all.

Well done Idarion! Are you open to publishing the source?

Hi, Idarion

I know this post is old. I just want to thank you for the fix you wrote. It works great so far. I tried the wsgf version, and as what others mentioned, there were a lot of bugs and glitches. Thanks once again and keep up the great work!
Great fix, but I can't run the game through Galaxy. Clicking on Play in Galaxy won't start the game at all after using the fix, I have to actually run the exe from the folder to play it. Any chance at fixing this problem?
Sorry to bump this like that, but aren't you experiencing an increase of the distance needed to focus something with the camera using (any of) the widescreen patches ?

EDIT : well the widescreen fix wasn't the culprit, it was DSR.
