Give it a chance
It's a bit rough but I still find it enjoyable. Pro Tip: In map 5 there is a chain that you can't interact with when normally you can open doors by pulling them. Maybe it's a puzzle or maybe it's a bug, but if you use an open door spell you can open the door and continue. I'm not convinced it's a puzzle and actually a bug. Level design is fairly interesting, as you level up you gain a secondary attack at random, it's got a lot of good points. The claymation enemies look horrendous imo, but that's part of the fun.

A Tale of (Somewhat) High Adventure
So whilst playing this game a single thought comes in mind, this is fun but needs to be touched up by a studio like Nightdive. The bones of the game are solid, the enemy sprites and art style ooze sword and sorcery, which of course make sense since Ken Kelly's art is on full display for the cover, and it is most definitely fun. So what's the catch? Animations are weird and inconsistent and there are portions of the game which are glitched so you either have to use a spell or cheat codes for said spell to continue onwards. With some love this game could be a great addition to the "boomer shooter" lineup that has been getting remastered recently, but right now is just a fun relic of an age (not) so long ago.

DOOMgeons and Dragons
Yeah we all know that's what you're looking for. That's what it is. And yes it actually has a functioning if limited leveling up system technically making it an RPG.

No-effort port
An incredibly lazy port which changes the controls to a (extremely janky) WASD+Mouse configuration, but still lists the old controls in the menu. Thankfully you can launch the old version and just use the original keyboard controls, but if you want to use the "updated" port don't expect even the tiniest bit of effort for your money. I do appreciate the ability to play the original version on modern computers but I can't overlook the utter lack of care that went into the version that runs by default.
