While echoes of the original release pacing problems remain, the Director's Cut does much to add variety to the experience with new features such as perks, quirks, and precision aiming. It's likely not enough to warrant a replay if you've already finished it, but if this is your first foray into inXile's bleak vision of the future, this is the best place to start off.

Despite some gameplay flaws, Wasteland 2 gets a lot of things right for the genre. Fans of isometric, hardcore RPGs will find a detailed world to explore in the title. inXile Entertainment provides deep attention to detail on an awe-inspiring level. Creation of independent currencies and social hierarchies in the game create a living environment. Fully fleshed-out NPCs with voice-overs add to the detail of the wastes and make characters more than just placeholders. Interacting with the environment may lead to new clues and options for gameplay. Wasteland 2 is full of player choice and replayability that will keep players busy for a while. With gameplay easily exceeding 80 hours of content, Wasteland 2 is not for the faint of heart. Those who appreciate challenging experiences and detailed world-building will find Wasteland 2: Director's Cut an important installment in their RPG library.

The true Fallout 3.

A true sequel to the original Wasteland. A return to the classic RPG gameplay of the original Fallout. This game has so many side missions and secrets that it is easily repayable. The story and characters are very engaging. You will want to prevent any of your companions from dying. The only cons I can think of is that some outcomes are unavoidable when they shouldn't be. But all the pros outweigh the cons. I recommend this game to any RPG fan who loved the original Fallout.

A great revival of the genre but flawed

First up, I'm gonna say that if you like CRPGs, and/or you like post-apocalyptica, you it's worth the money. I picked it up for $20 on sale and maybe even that is a bit much, but its worth a buy. The visuals are good. It's surprisingly colourful for a post-apocalyptic wasteland and things pop up and are well defined. That and the art direction is coherent and cool looking, even with the dated graphics that doesn't give you the detail you might be used to if you play current day PC games. There's alot of good writing. There's gobs of characterizations and narratives that will make you feel very well immersed. Its all well written and I never felt like the story or the characters were uninteresting. The combat is a bit mixed. The core mechanic is solid and polished. UI, animations and sounds are all well-streamlined and punchy. It feels like there's alot of lost opportunity for variety in the combat however, and the combat does get old after a while. It would be nice to have had a good stealth mechanic to setup more intricate ambushes, or maybe even avoid some combats all together. Whats lacking in the combat feels like its a result of poor level design as well. Most combat boils down to taking the first shot and then gunning the enemy down as fast as possible before they get too close. Cover isn't a huge consideration and there aren't alot of options for it most of the time. Having some special abilities tied to non-combat skills might also spice up the combat a little bit - like using the brute force skill to break down enemy cover or knock them prone. My biggest complaint is non combat skills. They feel useless except for looting containers with junk and they're frustrating with their binary failures. I hate to sound trite, but there's a reason modern RPGs are contextualizing non-combat skills into minigames. Overall though, I hope the devs continue the franchise and improve upon it. They have great ideas and there's alot of room to improve.

Not the game I would like it to be

I had fun with it until i reach Arizona... there a lot of teeth grinding bugs before that... but after reaching that point the game basically broke apart. The directors cut suffers from being a game rebuilt for consoles and ported back to pc. lots of glaring balance issues haven't been addressed (heavy weapons?) and of course more bugs were introduced in the process. I would honestly wait for a sale and/or a GOTY DC or just skip this entirely if you aren't a HUGE fan of games like this. As a kickstarter backer of the original title I'm really disappointed how this all turned out in the end.

The Game is okay, German Translation not

The German translation is straight out garbage. It seems like it was crowd-translated, but damn, did kids from the elementary school do this? It really breaks the experience for me, and I wished it had mod support on steam, so that you could easily get a better translation there.

Need's a lot of polish

It's an overall solid game with a LOT of bugs, poor design choices and pretty ugly graphics. It feels like it's still in the beta phase.
