In short I spent about hundred hours playing this title, unique climate, turn based battle system and some ridiculous dialogues make this game unique. This game have chance to be even better if random map encounters was really "random" setup (map and enemies), and have more type of armors and items. All story line and missions lead player from quest one to quest two, without much choices - so this game is not "every new game is unique experience type" - beat the game once and uninstall.
I was hoping for something like Fallout/Fallout 2 but instead this is just a (admittedly gorgeously beautiful) remake of Fallout Tactics: BOS (or POS, as it was universally known)
Near zero roleplaying, insane, illogical, unintuitve reasons for various items to be given to various characters, tedious quests, ridiculously easy 'final battle', some truly worthless skills ... all in all, a very big let-down
Wasteland 2 is one of the best new post apocalyptic games recently made! The game play is great and very similar to Fallout Tactics. This game has gotten so much better since I originally played it in early access in Steam.
Can't recommedn this game. Honestly, it's frustratingly tough on normal diifculty. Put about 5 hours in, and gave up. The game clearly favors AI opponents. There is just never enough ammo, health items to defeat the enemies. This is not a horror survival game, you can't run away and keep the stiry preogressing. It's better to replay original and the 2nd Fallout that drudge through this challenge.
I got this game with the prospect of playing a Role-Playing Game. However, there's very little role-playing in Wasteland 2.
The world feels underdeveloped, with very little lore and what little there is I wouldn't consider compelling, and the characters inhabiting it are undercharacterized, and while the dialogue is somewhat well written (and at times quite funny), the overall plot provides nothing more than a bit of context or motivation for stuff to happen. There are no interesting plot lines going on, or opportunities to actually "play a role" in this RPG.
The combat is, however, very solid and that's the main redeeming quality in this game, which is why I feel it doesn't deserve to be panned outright, but brings me to what is the main gripe I have with it: this is advertised as a Role-playing game, but offers little to no opportunity to actually role-play, shouldn't it be categorized instead as a team-based strategy or something like that?
