An amazing game, and I have played many computer games, ever since I was seven years old. It's been twenty years and I must say, Warlords Battlecry 3 is the best game I've ever played. Gog's version is really good, but I suggest you downloading the recently unofficial "official" patch, as the original team behind Warlords intended. It adds a new spell sphere, changed unit models, items, quests, and great balances. The game is at its best with the 1.03.25 patch and I highly suggest this gem to anyone who considers themselves a gamer, a fan of fantasy, or strategy and rpg games.
To this day little credit is given to this game for it's pushes forward of RTS', and the possibilities in that genre. You rarely see people pointing out that Warcraft 3's 'heroes' are direct copies, nearly, of Warlords characters.
A very fun game, very involved, and worthy of a look at the very least.
This game has all I allways wanted from as strategy game.
Ita a real time with pause option . (ggod to think your strategies ).
Has a imense variety of unities and maps.
Its beauty to see and run well in most of computers.
Your unities gain xperience and develop (if survived)
I love all serie, I´ve played them all.
I recomend.
Starcraft, take a seat. Age of Empires, take notes.
THIS is what a good strategy game looks like.
A panoply of factions, each one with a distinct flavor and playstyle, a well developed world, RPG elements wonderfully blended into an RTS and above all great gameplay.
Before finding this, I had been working on actually setting up a Win98 box for the sole purpose of playing this jewel.
The graphics may not be on par with modern games, but I'd still take this over Starcraft 2 if I had to make a choice.
I don't know what the hell people say about bugs or crashes or that it is an unplayable mess or something about DRM nonsense, but this is 100% bullshit. The game works fine and I never had any problem with this gog release.
Before I start let me say that I found this game here on gog on 2014, so this review is not nostalgia. Now if you are one of those people that you want a 2004 game to look like a 2019 game, then yeah, don't touch this game.
Now about the GAME itself and not unrelated shit.
The game is really nice, it is a RTS with rpg elements. You have a hero which you can level up pretty easily and equip items on him. This hero is like your profile, your level and equipment are saved with him as well your favorite units that survived the battle
Yes, your units can level up and if they survive then a name is generated for them and you can save them for future battles, I personally have 2 Reavers since quest 1 until now.
The campaign is really well made, you can explore the map with your army and choose your fights. The fights are really satisfying, I really like crushing the parties with my reavers and dragons. The units are really creative, there is much content, races units and so on.
The only reason I don't give this game 5 stars is the difficulty. I find this game too easy for my tastes. Right now my hero can destroy a whole map of titans with no sweat. So if you have some friends to play lan together I think is would be much more fun
