Description
While taking a break from playing a tabletop RPG, Daniel, an average guy from modern times, is transported to Harnakon’s Castle. Thinking that he is suffering from a hallucination, he decides that he is going to run the adventure for as long as the illusion lasts. As he explores the castle, fights the monsters within, and even casts potent magical spells, Daniel comes to realize that not everything is as it seems.

Unepic heroically combines open-world platforming gameplay with the intricacy and challenge of the RPG. Tweak Daniel’s skills to your heart’s content. Fight a bewildering variety of monsters, from the lowly goblin to the gigantic dragon, with over 100 different weapons. If forbidden magics are more your calling, then 70 spells and magical items will please even the most discriminating would-be wizard. If you love nerd-based humor and the RPG munchkin in you is strong, you'll appreciate every last bit of this charming RPG/platformer!

A waste of what could have been great

Screwed up single player to make multi-player. This used to be a fun game. Then the dev ruined it by taking a single player game and making it multiplayer. If you like games that unfairly punish you and force you to repeat the same enemies over and over and over and over to grind up enough coins, potions, etc then this is your game. I loved the game up until on the of the bosses that has a significantly unfair advantage over you. There's no real way to multiclass and classes are greatly overpowered at certain times, which is not terrible, but adds legitimate challenge. You're going to die a lot, which isn't a problem as long as you save at the single save point, but if you don't and you die, you're going to grind or you have to start over. There's no cheats or dev modes, you're going to have to waste *hours* of grinding to get back to where you were. I literally was so disgusted by the devs attitude towards a player and the outright unfair advantage of one of the bosses. If you cannot beat a game without grinding the same screens over and over and over or getting a walkthrough it's not balanced properly. The humor is actually freaking hilarious to me and the story was what I was playing for it's a shame it became a waste of time.

Decent

Pretty good, but it has a lot of issues. They use references and simple frat humor instead of clever writing. The story is fairly predictable. The mechanics are clever in spots, but they fall flat later on in the game. They toss a new mechanic at you for the end of the game and it's incredibly annoying. The lack of good checkpoints makes some boss battles a chore, but when the final battle comes around and there are zero checkpoints? It's a time sink. Not to mention the ending you get is based on random chance if you haven't read ahead in a walkthrough. A real letdown. I had fun for a bit, but I'm glad I got the game at a Summer Sale discount.

Good but frustrating final phase

The game is really good until the final phase, which destroys all the fun you had previously in the game. Annoying, frustrating and in my opinion a disaster of design. I was really enjoying it until that part, it's a pity.

Excellent metroidish platformer

I got my copy from an IndieRoyale bundle. It is one of the best platformers I've played in quite a while. Fair warning though, the language is pg-17 at times with plenty of adult (juvenile) humor. It brought back memories of my RPG days.

Controls are what turned me off

I thought this game looked interesting and got a copy. You cannot remap controls for the keyboard/mouse. Seriously? I hate the key layout they have built into the game. I tried and tried to play the game and use the key layout, but it just makes it too much of a chore for me to play. If they were to ever, which I know they won't since the game has been out for so long, to fix the keybinding issue I'd give the game another go. As it stands, I hate the key bindings and can't bring myself to continue playing.
