Cool concept, too bad for the bugs

Bought this game after it had been out for about 8 months on sale. I was playing through and having fun. On the fourth level, the first bug popped up, where an item I beat the mini-boss for apparently did not resolve the game quest it was used for. No matter, I beat the big boss anyway. Now on the 5th level, I get a new bug in which I have to type in a code. The code is not recognized. I saw other people had this problem on other forums, and the game devs requested the save files to fix. I contacted GOG support hoping they could fix it, but they were not in position, so I do not blame them. They gave me the support email for the game developers. I emailed them my save files twice and have not heard back. So now my only option is to restart a new game and hope I don't get the bugs. Eight months out, having already been made aware of at least this one bug, and it's still happening! The cool stuff: -The story has a nice concept, and there's not too many voluminous tomes to read through. -Combat is fun once you get the hang of it and you can scale the difficulty to your liking -Graphics look good -Leveling characters is not so micromanaged. -Seems to be no limit on inventory space Not so cool stuff: -Aforementioned bugs -Yet another game with no manual. When did it become acceptable to not ship games without a manual? You think your one splash screen telling me I can craft items is enough to tell me what I need to do? -Inventory is hard to manage as it clutters up, and you have no real way of getting rid of inventory other than crafting items, and no instructions on to do it, just a splash screen hinting at it. -Load times seem a tad long -Adding new characters seems kinda pointless, as I have just been running with the first four I started with. You can only take 4 characters into battle mode. -(so far) some maps and quests can be frustrating to navigate A game with a potential, but not ready for primetime, nor are the developers, it seems.

Really good game.

Before tonight i have never heard of Tower of Time i saw GOG was giving it away for free for their Winter sale giveaway i figured i would try it out.I installed the game got hooked instantly The game itself is kinda like a mix of Strategic combat with ARPG style movement So the game is kind of like a ARPG strategy game hybrid. In a way.Well worth a try if you like action RPGs And are trying to learn how to play strategic games better. The game has a friendly difficulty level system where you can start out Normal and work your way up.Or if your having a difficult time there is also a easy mode and story mode as well which i like that the game is welcoming to every gamer whether there casual or hardcore.Great game for anyone's collection.

Linear letdown

Interesting story and very nice environment is completely letdown by one of the most boring combat and item system i have seen in a long time. Compared to classics like Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale, Tower of Time is nothing - shame on anyone to claim ToT to be anything nearly as good as these gems. Diversity in items is nonexistent, plot is linear and combat is simply weird, something like Diablo meets Heroes of Might and Magic, but not in a good way (each of these titles are a 100 times better in their own right). No characters attack on their own. A fighter can stand a few feet from an archer and get hammered by arrows, but he doesn't react until you specifically tell him to attack. And when that enemy fall, you have to click on the next one. I'm fully aware that AI is a misused term, but this is lazy coding. Weird gameplay decisions. One example: Meeting beasts in the dungeon, triggers some kind of practice mode, where you win rather powerful items. These items are way more powerful that anything you find down (up?) in the tower on the first couple of levels...? Who thought of that one? Enchantments and teleports all over the place. At the top of the GUI is a button, that lets you instantly travel to town. This works all the time and the levels are to small to bother with the teleporters. I especially like the heading "Gravity Manipulation" and "Unique Alignment System" in the game description: "Gravity Manipulation" is a skill-based jump to the enemy, nothing else and the "Unique Alignment System" is just based on dilemmas presented in text. Some characters like your decison, some dont. There is nothing "unique" about this. It's is nothing that haven't been seen before. Very basic "crafting" system and so on... and on... on (dot, dot, dot) Glad i got this on sale!

Fun game requiring strategy

The game is a fun dungeon crawl. Graphics are well done and the combat is varied and interesting. You need to often use strategy to win battles, though some are easy once you start getting good equipment. There are some grammar mistakes and typos and I've seen at least one minor bug, but nothing serious. You can use up to four characters in your party at a time and can swap them as needed once you unlock them. You start with only two characters. You cannot choose classes for the characters, but can choose the skills they use and there are two upgrade paths for each skill. You can choose whichever path you prefer. Skills can be swapped for free at any time outside of combat. There are a variety of ways to improve your equipment besides just finding better equipment. You can enchant items with a single enchantment, you can upgrade them (this is very limited) to a new tier, you can forge items 0-5 times depending on the item to add additional or improved properties, and crafting. There are different combat modes that you will come across, including standard combat, boss combat where you win after defeating the boss, destroy portal combat where you need to destroy portals to stop enemy spawns, defense combat where you need to defend some orbs and win if you keep at least one from being destroyed. There are also combat challenges that can award you with gems to use for enchants, crafting, and forging, as well as gold, legendary items, and enchantments. Puzzles in the game are generally easy, but fit nicely into the game rather than being forced into it like you find in some games. Overall, I would recommend this game if you enjoy dungeon crawls. My only real complaint is that you can't actually play your main character after the prologue. You just play your subordinates and allies. The only thing you seem able to do with your main character after the prologue is to influence certain "critical" choices that your party is making.

Good story, good fights

Very directed storyline, but a good story with a promising ending - like a movie, but with fun fights Party dynamic is new, but seems of little consequence - levelling and equipment is most important Final boss fight was easier than some of the challanges scenarios, where you fight against the diffent type of foes - which is weird - final boss should be the hardest But my verdict - good fun with a decent amount of game time I am looking forward to the next part of the story
