Tower of Time

No character creation. Your main character is pregenerated. Combat is instanced like a jrpg. Loot system is basicaly non existant post combat. I reccomend you play the demo first

I'm about 8 hours in and it feels like work. It's too bad, because I should love this. I've enjoyed a lot of RPGs and ARPGs. But the story is super linear, and the combat is not interesting. The devs clarly put a ton of work into this, and it checks every box of what I normally like. But it's a slog, sorry. I can't recommend this.

This is a great game..... for the first 20 hours. The story is very intriguing and drives me to move forward, but the combat becomes very stale as you get deeper. The game is far too long as I've spent over 20 hours and the combat is basically, tank, mage, archer compositions. The game has gotten to a point where even on hard, it's not overly hard, and using this strategy seems to be working so far. However I'm only on level 6 or so. And there are 11 whopping levels where you have to traverse back and forth trying to find where that item is to insert into something to progress. You can see that this game is made with passion and the devs have done a decent job, but I think the game should have been shorter. I'm dissapointed that I wont see the story progress, but I don't want to invest another 30 hours into mindless tank, mage, archer combat. Get on a deep sale if you like isometric, combat RPGs. However it will get boring quick. 3 Stars as a game, because it's not bad, but not fantastic either. The half-life syndrome affects this game where you just dont feel compelled to finish it.

This game is interesting. Just because it does skills and fights differently not neccessarily mean its bad. But my goodness, it does get old after the polish has worn off. I go back to it, I'm on the floor that is supposedly right before the last level, but urrgghh, it is torture to play. The fights are boring as heck at this time. I bypass every quest I can that doesn't plop right in front of me. The level design is frustrating. I just want it to be over. Items, you would think, by this level would be great, but every item has detrimental effects, even the top tier items. I got better gear that is two or sometimes three tiers below the top tier. So close, but I don't know if I will ever finish this. If it had ended 5 floors ago, then my review might have been better.

It's probably 3 dungeon floors too long but I had so much fun the entire way, i didn't care. This game does almost everything great; combat, worldbuilding, music, loot, questing, graphics. Exploration is a single giant 10-floor dungeon sort of like the old Wizardry games. But very modernized. Combat is real time with pause, except it's designed like a MOBA instead of D&D. Every encounter in this system is fun. No you don't have to read 20 minutes of text or fight a combat every 10 steps. Those bad reviews are exaggerating. There's about 10 combats PER FLOOR, and about 1/3 as much text as Pillars of Eternity.
