Tower of Time

I guess I am a moody guy to cry, but I did at the end, after committing so much of my time to this game. I'm sure it's just me who did. It is enjoyable and beautiful game, although drags a lot of the time and makes you feel frustrated at times. I hated at the end that I couldn't reset the forges, and I spant way too much time savescumming, even tried figuring out how to edit save file to re enable the forges again, sigh. I give this game a solid 4 stars. I could have finished it faster if I didn't have the OCD to collect everything on each level and read through every bit of text.

Amazing game with amazing story and fun gameplay (at least for me). Deserve to be played even just for the story. Oh, and the music too it is amazing !

I very much enjoyed Tower of Time. Good, melancholy storyline (which is hard to do), a mix of Diablo/Torchwood style gear system with a baldur's gate/icewind dale real time with pause combat, and nice some interesting decision points in builds. Not super challenging on normal, but there are difficult setting to amp up. End game gets a bit weaker in terms of overloading with resources, but story pushed me through until the end, even though I did predict much of it. I would say this is game best played in 1-2 hour blocks, as the combat can get a bit too similar if play too long, but other than that, very happy with the purchase.

Note that this review is for Linux only, I have not tried it on Windows. The storyline is interesting, a tower plunged into earth upside down and the gameplay is quite unique. I'm more of a turn based RPG player but the combination of slow time/pause works really well. The battles can be tough if you're not well prepared but satisfactory once beaten. Unfortunately the game constantly crashes which makes it unplayable. On level 1 I'm now stuck because the game always crashes during a battle. A shame because it's an interesting concept and it has a lot of potential.

The game respects your intelligence. It is fairly easy at normal levels, but you can adjust that. The game story is told organically, and the voice acting is very well done. There are lots of innovative mechanics and the world and motivations are very well thought out. Highly recommend.
