AWESOME game! Plenty of fun, gorgeous graphics for scenarios, characters, effects, all of that. Beautiful sound track. And a bunch of nice references to the whole RPG-like world.
One of the most amazing visual-perspective experience game I´ve ever played.
Wether you desire a very, VERY easy difficulty, just to embark on the story, or quite a challenging experience, you´ll mostly find it in the game.
AWESOME!
Playable characters might be quite cliche at times, but main focus of this game is combat, skills and gear. Even so the story was somewhat interesting and not completely transparent and predictable, so even if the combat got a bit too easy on normal difficulty on couple of the last floors, my curiosity about the story kept me playing. The story made sense excepting one small detail (the tower being turned upside down) and I'm hoping we get a DLC/datadisk or sequel where we can confront Sleath. There is also mechanic where your party has to face decisions which spices it up a little. Audio and visuals are good enough and I didn't encounter any issues except with navigation out of combat in couple of places.
Now I started a new game on epic difficulty+RPGlite mode and the combat is much more intense than it ever was on my normal playthrough. This game has a lot of fun to offer and some gamers will appreciate even the opportunity to support competent indie game developers.
ToT is for me a really good surprise, it mixes beautifully elements of Old school RPGs, ARPGs with a bit of JRPG !
Only thing that will maybe not make it a lasting classic is lack of replayability, as all characters are fixed, and the Tower is the same everytime, just some loot is randomized.
I played the game at the start of the year on an i5 9300H, 8Gb of ram and a GTX 1650 on Linux - Solus distro. Nothing special. The first half of the game, tower levels 1-5 were OK. Then came the constant crashing that made it literally impossible to progress past level 5. I ended up giving up. I was looking for a crpg to play when I realized I hadn't reviewed this one.
The game itself isn't bad. I personally ended up liking the combat, even if the dialogue was a bit off and the story might as well have not been there. Would I have been able to finish it I would have done so but alas repeated crashes made it impossible. Also, I'd like to remind anyone reading it, the crashed did non become a problem until the halfway point. That's going to take one quite some time to reach and you are unlikely to know if you'll encounter the same problem I did for at least the first dozen hours of play. Under these conditions I'm afraid I can't recommend this game. Which is sad since I'm one of the few people that gave it a change in the first place, not to mention someone who liked the game. But let's face it, we're here to buy games, not the first half of them.
