I liked it
It was fun. I probably wouldn't replay it any time soon. But for the first run it was fun.

Want a additional copy for a friend? Pick up the Tower 57 Two-pack

There is no school like the old school. Shoot everything that moves and don’t get killed in the process. Tower 57 offers complex situations arising from simple systems interacting with each other - and it does it the hard way. Number of lives is scarce, respawns limited and difficulty skyrockets when you least expect it.
Choose from a roster of six particular characters with different skillsets, number of upgradable weapons and gadgets. And if you happen to lose an arm or leg during your mission - you can always replace it with a new, better one! Master these combos and you will never get bored on your way to the top of the Tower 57.
Mayhem tastes the best when it is shared. Tower 57's main campaign is designed for both, single player & local/online CO-OP. Flank your enemies, bait them into an ambush, leverage co-op specific weapons, or combine your regular weapons for increased firepower and new effects!
Find your way through a maze of floors connected by elevators, a central hub filled with shops and terminals, and a multitude of secret walls and uncharted passageways leading to forgotten parts of the tower. Times of randomly generated levels are gone - everything in Tower 57 is carefully designed and pixel-crafted with the highest attention to detail.
Smash them, crash them and destroy everything. Reload. Repeat. Because everyone likes when things go BOOM. Everything - from debris and shell casings to bloody footprints - will mark your destructive trail through the Tower.
Each enemy features its own distinct spawning mechanism, movement & attack patterns, as well as some weaknesses. And you'd better learn those vulnerabilities if you don't want to end up dead very quick.

Like an unfinished ZAMB...
This game has the exact feel of old school "Zmobies Ate My Neighbors" from the SNES. It plays just like that game, looks even better, and is loads of fun! However, there are serious issues with it. First are the bugs. There aren't many, but a persistent, often game-breaking bug, can happen where you get stuck on a wall, or between two indestructible objects. It actually happened to me during my first (and only) playthrough. Luckily I had an explosive weapon, which didn't actually kill me, but moved me enough to squeeze me out of the corner between a piece of the environment and a wall. I had tried EVERYTHING else before using this weapon, and nothing worked, so I was terrified that my entire game was over and I would have to restart (or more likely just drop the game). Speaking of weapons, there are some odd game mechanics, and the weapons are one of them. You don't have access to all of the weapons as the game progresses. So if you find a weapon you really like, and upgrade it, you NEED to keep it! Otherwise, it's nearly impossible to regain a handful of weapons later in the game. Especially in the last 20% or so, when you've almost beaten it, you aren't able to buy/acquire all of the prior weapons! I have no idea why they thought this would be a good idea. Finally, the biggest issue of all is how short the game is. The entire game is about 8 hours long. I spent a few hours grinding the slot machines and certain weapons, and my total playtime is 10 hours, so 8 is probably an accurate estimate. I predict that if you played the entire thing co-op (which is a great feature) it might be even less. When I finished the game (the ending is horrible, by the way), my first reaction was "that's it?" It genuinely felt unfinished, and I think that is the case. It seems like the development team ran into a deadline, or ran out of money and just finished it up with what they had. It's a fun game, but I would recommend you get it at 50% off.

Georgeous, fun and in need of balancing.
Tower 57 is by far the prettiest game I have played in a while. I really like the pixel style, the colors and the overall looks of the setting. The game itself is fun to play. I haven't had the chance to try it in coop yet, but even I spent a good while in single player and was well entertained. Nonetheless the game suffers from a few quirks, which I hope get patched soon. - sometimes the controls aren't very responsive (A no-go for a fast paced twin-stick-shooter) - the balancing is way off - ranged characters (Spy, Scientist) perfom way better than melee ones - the early game is nothing but a grind for self-healing capabilities - medkits should be found more often - the machine gun is a joke - damagewise I hope this gets fixed soon, as apart from that the game is great fun to play. Sidenote: It even runs on GPD Win

One of the best Indie Pixelart titles!
Tower 57 is an indie game made by Pixwerk and 11bit Studios and believe me this is a great title to play. When I've just touched this game, it's lovely and incredibly beautiful looking game - I love 8/16 bit era and all these pixel art levels, characters, mobs and weapons are something I like. The difficulty I took is Hard, let's hope it won't be too much for me. Everything intrigues me in this game, especially the weapons and their look, they are so amazing and beautiful. The enemies in this game are another story, they are also pretty in their own way! Add to this some steampunk climate and you have this game, in my opinion of the best titles to try this year. This is a great throwback to the 80s and 90s era when such games were extremely popular on Arcades, consoles and PCs.
