TOWER 57 IN A NUTSHELL

In a dystopian, dieselpunk world, where Megatowers are the only enclaves of civilization, a group of extraordinary individuals is sent to infiltrate the reclusive Tower 57. Their skills, clips' capacity & the ability to cooperate will decide on their fate. Tower 57 is a TOP-DOWN TWIN STICK SHOOTER with 16-bit inspired pixel art, destructible environments and heavy focus on CO-OP. It is also a modern take on what made AMIGA games so great back in the days.

MEDIA ABOUT TOWER 57

"(...) gorgeous artwork, action-packed gameplay and a seriously cool vibe."
- Hardcore Gamer

" 'Okay, so now you have to go over there and buy new legs,' the producer told me. Sold. I'm on board with this. Sometimes, it's the little things. (...) Tower 57 could be the next great indie co-op game."
- WorthPlaying

"Tower 57 just wants to be a fun and crazy shooter for players, providing chaos and mayhem and crazy characters like Abe Lincoln with cyborg legs, and what’s a bullet hell shoot-em-up without a cyborg Abraham Lincoln?"
- PlayStation LifeStyle

"(...) one of my most eagerly awaited games and a Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight success."
- IndieRetroNews

FEATURES:

FAST-PACED ARCADE GAMEPLAY

There is no school like the old school. Shoot everything that moves and don’t get killed in the process. Tower 57 offers complex situations arising from simple systems interacting with each other - and it does it the hard way. Number of lives is scarce, respawns limited and difficulty skyrockets when you least expect it.

TOOLS OF DESTRUCTION

Choose from a roster of six particular characters with different skillsets, number of upgradable weapons and gadgets. And if you happen to lose an arm or leg during your mission - you can always replace it with a new, better one! Master these combos and you will never get bored on your way to the top of the Tower 57.

COOPERATION

Mayhem tastes the best when it is shared. Tower 57's main campaign is designed for both, single player & local/online CO-OP. Flank your enemies, bait them into an ambush, leverage co-op specific weapons, or combine your regular weapons for increased firepower and new effects!

DIESELPUNK WORLD

Find your way through a maze of floors connected by elevators, a central hub filled with shops and terminals, and a multitude of secret walls and uncharted passageways leading to forgotten parts of the tower. Times of randomly generated levels are gone - everything in Tower 57 is carefully designed and pixel-crafted with the highest attention to detail.

DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTS

Smash them, crash them and destroy everything. Reload. Repeat. Because everyone likes when things go BOOM. Everything - from debris and shell casings to bloody footprints - will mark your destructive trail through the Tower.

ADVERSARIES

Each enemy features its own distinct spawning mechanism, movement & attack patterns, as well as some weaknesses. And you'd better learn those vulnerabilities if you don't want to end up dead very quick.

Great ingredients but a bit annoying

This game has the ingredients to be a fun action-packed arcade shooter but some annoying levels kill the experience. Repetitive enemies & annoying levels that can feel more like a tedious puzzle than a fun shooter. I did not play that very long so perhaps further down the road it gets more interesting, but the game did not feel like I wanted to invest a whole lot of time into it. Co-op might be a thing but most of us don't play with others unless online (which is, very unfortunately, not present).

Not. Good.

Whoever compared this to The Chaos Engine has never played it. Both. There are several different characters and it's topdown, that is what they have in common. This is a clunky, buggy mess. It's a SNES-style action-RPG. The gunplay is just awful, there is no flow. None of the weapons feel good, and all of them (except the fall back peashooter) have limited ammo. Online multiplayer is unstable, we never managed to play longer than about half an hour without players being disconnected. Rather fire up the Amiga-Emulator...or try something like Synthetik.

A love letter to the Bitmap Bros.

This comes pretty close to scratching the itch fans of "The Chaos Engine" have been dealing with for a good long while . It's packed with bullets, bloods, bones, and horrific sudden deaths. All of which are nicely rendered and coupled with a sardonic sense of humor. The game is up front with what it's all about, and is a good time for those who pick their fights wisely. Well worth the money.

Controller issues

Unable to get my twin-stick controller to work with this game in OSX (which works in several other GOG games pefectly fine). Spent 20 min looking for a solution.... look somewhere else untill they address some of the bugs...

Great game, unpatched and broken on GOG

The game is nice and I would enjoy it very much however, the version on GOG is 17.84 (while there's version 18.48 available in the field already). Current version available on GOG is bugged, it's extremely easy to get stuck on objects and I've already experienced several hang ups at the end of first level (when I was able to get to the end without being glued to some random object and had to restart the level). I'm sorry to say that, as I'm a great fan of DRM free games and love GOG's work, but at this time I would NOT recommend buying the game here. It's practically unplayable in it's current state (or at least highly frustrating to play).
