Dr. Eva Rosalene and Dr. Neil Watts have rather odd jobs: they give dying people another chance to live. Literally. Using a technology that allows artificial memories to be implanted, the doctors can weave and transform the mind of a patient to help them live the life they wanted to live...
To The Moon follows Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts' attempt to fulfill the wishes of a dying elderly man, Johnny. In their attempt to do so, they travel deep through the man's memories, unfolding his curious life story before their eyes. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the fragmented events that spanned a lifetime, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish.
Johnny's last wish is, of course, to go to the moon.

Terrible and pointless gameplay that serves more as a detriment to the story it is trying to tell then an enhancer. Make no mistake, this games is basically entirely story driven and is basically the only reason you should consider playing To the Moon.
If you want something meaningful that has an extremely high potential for tears, this is your game. Easily one of the most emotional games I've ever played and one of two that actually managed to make me cry in over 20 years of gaming. I don't mean broken up or a bit misty eyed, I mean full on tears. It would be a disservice to explain what makes this game such an emotional experience, so if you have any interest in it whatsoever then I suggest experiencing it as spoiler free for yourself.
The writing is very solid and the writers deserve credit for the style they use in which events progress backwards and we see things from the very end of a mans life moving backward. Make no mistake, this isn't something that could easily be pulled off with lazy writing and it is executed very well.
The OST also deserves a shoutout. It's emotional when it wants to be, fun when it wants to be, even creepy when it wants to be.
I was very happy with To The Moon. I came into this game with expectations that it would grip me in the feelings center and make me cry. Initially I thought it slightly intriguing and it's pop culture references quite amusing, but became sceptical about what it had to offer.
I can honestly say it was baseless fears, as it soon after sucked me in and spat me out, having experienced an appropriately 4-5 hour long story completely satisfied. If you are ready to smile, laugh, cry, wonder, ponder, sigh and invest yourself as you unravel a life in reverse, then look no further. You've found it.
My one reservation is a few gameplay elements that I think slow the game a bit at times and fon't really fit in. I can't go into detail, as it revolves around the plot, but know that it is minor and not a reason to swear off the game, at all!
Great storytelling, not much of a gameplay though... actually, I'd even dare to say there's sadly nothing to play at all. You just click throughout the story. All the clicking and no puzzles to solve (I mean some that would require higher IQ then of a first-grader) made this game quite dull. So, for the sake of all authors' effort I'd say it's more of a interactive book than a game.
The story and the soundtrack are beautiful and for several times I felt physical presence of warm childhood memories flooding my whole body and I shivered. On this front, job well done.
This is almost a visual novel its not a gamer`s game. For the money its worth the experience if your an emotional person and quite sensitive this game is almost on pair with an ASMR experience. I myself cried my eyes out you feel for the 2 main protagonists and the music also gets the tear jerking in session.
I would not recommend this game/interactive story to cold people or folks who suffer from narcissistic personality disorder as it would be wasted on you and not be an enjoyable experience or value for money because you have no empathy for others and a sense of accountability and will require those traits to really become one with this story and feel the emotions that come from this fantastic Tale.
The music is amazing vocals of Everything's Alright by Laura Shigihara is the cherry on top. This game is now being made into an animated movie.
