Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

The writing is phenomenal. I laughed, I almost cried, I had a great time with the game. It is a tad easy though, so played at the highest difficulty for any semblance of challenge.

Writting, graphics, music, voice acting are all strength of this game. It has mature believable story with interesting twists and characters. What prevent me from giving this game full 5 stars are some low moments in gameplay. I would like the game to force more army and deck variety. What I mean is, that I would like the game to start with just a few units and increase unit numbers as you progress. So you could feel the increasing strength of your army. The provision limit was so high, that I never struggle even with the lowest one. Also all unites was so OP, that deck builiding doesnt matter. If you had a few dmg abilities to win fights where you have to destroy specific unit, you could put anything in the deck and be fine. Please, next time lower the provision at start and make unit less powerfull with different abilities, so you actually have to think about your army (deck). Make different objectives in fights, you you have to use more than one decks, thats OP for everything. And add option to not only load from checkpoint, but also option to rebuild army and repeat fight (or option to create and save more decks). But despite text above, its a great game, that was even better than expected for reasonable price. And I was enjoying most of my 40+ hours of play.

Well, this is it - the best RPG experience I have ever experienced. My first RPG game was Diablo 1, followed by Baldur's Gates, other Diablos, Elder Scrolls 4, 5, Witcher 3, even Dark Souls 3 series later on. I'm not addicted to games / RPGs but played a lot of hundreds of hours. In the beginning (before I started to play it) I was quite sceptical of the game. Because of 2 reasons: - I don't really like fantasy card games (like MtG or Hearthstone) - I prefer visual action experience recently (e.g. Witcher 3) over old school isometric type games But when I started to dive deep into Thronebraker I realized, it is addictable. I played about 30 hours of that game on medium level and already half through the highest level it has for now. I must confess, for several days I could do anything but just playing the game: its athmosphere, music, plot, events, puzzles, fights, loot, etc. just kept me tied to the game for all those 40 hours I played it. And I want to play more! And I really enjoyed Gwent part of the game (must say Gwent is more natural than MtG and Hearthstone in various ways - but this is a different story). So, this is it. Simple, but genius. P.S. CDPR - you are marvelous! Every game you make is quite a solid / good user experience. But this one - nothing more to say, just what I've mentioned above :))) P.P.S: hope CDPR will be releasing new stories / maps every half a year with the same quality, I'll buy it for sure :)))

CD Projekt does it again! These guys have deep knowledge on how to work in the witcher lore and they delivered a hell of a story. The rpg elements here are really well done. Don't think twice: buy it now!

I must say, i wasnt sceptical but i haven't really been into the whole gwent card game. Even though i played through all the witcher games from the first to last, the card game just never really got my attention. That is untill i played Thronebreaker, this game for me is GOTY 2018. The story, the choices you are left with to choose your path. The music that just fits in perfectly for the different settings. We are left with another masterpiece from CD project red.
