Thronebreaker is a single player role-playing game set in the world of The Witcher that combines narrative-driven exploration with unique puzzles and card battle mechanics.
Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran and queen of two Northern Realms — Lyria and Rivia. Facing an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath and set out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
Initially I bought the game out of the purpose to support my favorite developer, CDPR! But I keep playing it since it turns out to be so good. I missed the time when I collecting card in Witcher 3 and battle gwent non-stop. Ahh, such good memories brought back by this game. I LOVE IT!
First of all, don't get me wrong: I, for example, at first tried ALL of the Witcher RPGs pirated and only then bought them, the same goes with this game. So all retards that have the opinion that you must pay before trying the game – bug off. I've deleted it from my PC after understanding that it's not the game I've expected (otherwise i would spend 30 Eur), so don't get yelling on me that I've done something terrible – CDPR understands this (judging by their DRM-free games), so (most likely) they won't have a fuss about it.
The gameplay is quite unique and understandable, which is a huge plus, BUT... Remember how you've played GWENT in the Witcher 3? Forget about it... This Gwent (just as the online version in which I have also had the opportunity to play/beta-test) is something out of the ordinary – it won't give you any time to contemplate and relax – its rules are shifting from the 1st game to the 666th one without any chance of getting used to them. It may be a plus, but for me Gwent was an activity to relax.
Just as with the online version, this isn't the "over-cardly" (so to speak) version of the original game in Witcher 3 — e.g. some units "shoot" others dealing HP damage, which IMHO kind of adds interactivity, but loses the feeling of the game being a card one.
The great thing about the game is the artwork – it's ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! The fans and CDPR have done a great job on bringing this aspect of the game to life.
The interactivity of the RPG experience and the storyline based on Sapkovsky is really a good one (I've walked till the siege) – you get the feeling of immersion. Also the 2.5D characters are great.
Overall, guys, please don't get me wrong, but CDPR at first "forced" us into lowing Gwent as shown in Witcher 3, and then changed it tremendously. Sorry, CDPR, I love your games, but Gwent will forever be the one in the Witcher 3. I won't recommend buying this particular game %(
P.S. I will still fap on the artwork of this game, however
the visual is pleasing, the story telling is solid.
the game play of move linierly, watch the visual novel, collect some material, play a card game gets repetitve really quickly
before long I found myself not caring about the plot, it could not pull me in and make me care about the story and the Witcher world as much as I do in Witcher 3, which is all the time.
giving it a 2 star is because the experience gap when camparing with the 5 star Witcher 3, please think of my rating more of a tough love kind of rating.
This game has a lot of pros that are just executed so wrongly that it's cons outweight them.
I am not a person who enjoys to spend all their day trying to pass a specific part of the battle/map/level (you name it). By having limited time I prefer to experienced the story without all the unnecessary stuff that developers might think that are fun (difficult fights, puzzles and the rest of BS).
This game has a lovely artstyle, the interesting non-puzzle, non-scripted fights with cards, yet when you reach certain battles that are scripted so effin bad (Battle of the bridge) you just can't close your eyes anymore to the devs's mistakes.
Horrible puzzles (puzzle-fights), horrible scripted battles that require you to restart and restart until you do so many mistakes, that you have memorized them and suddenly it's all easy. This is not fun nor this is enjoyable, specifically coming from a person's view that is limited on time.
Other than that, great game. Purchase only if you enjoy spending a lot of time on unnecessary things instead of the story and restarting specific parts of the game wasting a solid hour of gameplay that you could have enjoyed otherwise.
