you had me at DRM and internet free

I love card games and have play most of them. This card game relies the most on skill and the least on luck of any card game I've ever played, excellently designed. Exeriencing the world of the Witcher once more is just an added bonus. I don't know what more I can say I haven't played a game I liked this much since Hollow Knight.

Ultimate storytelling card game

A fun, quick to learn, longer to master, title in the true spirit of CDPR, where storytelling is the core of the experience, but gameplay is highly polished and fun. Isometric graphics are stylised, with painted textures and cell-shading (imagine Telltale Games meets Diablo). The art is very much in the style of traditional graphic novels, with a comic-book feel to most of the cutscenes. The stories are, as expected, very well written, with interesting and colourful characters, intriguing plots and side-quests, and a great narrative backdrop that builds on the general richness of the Witcher universe, with its own unique CDPR flavour. All are presented in a fairly simple, yet nicely presented UI pop-up panel system, reminiscent of previous generation roleplaying games, but with fully voiced dialogues and narration, and stylised animation. Gameplay has two main levels. The strategic map allows world exploration in an isometric view, while battles and 'quest puzzles' become a very graphically attractive card game to resolve encounters, based on the Gwent system. Standard battles allow players to use customised decks (built up during the game through roleplaying and exploration), against AI players. Puzzles are one-round battles using pre-provided decks and require objectives other than just getting a high score to win. These are tasks such as killing a specific card, or avoiding the loss of any player cards, or preventing a row of boulders reaching your leader card, etc. Every battle has new and interesting challenges. If you like strategic thinking and storytelling, without complex mechanics or button-mashing action, this game is a winner.

Awesome!

CD Project RED got their job done very well and we have an outstanding mix of story-driven RPG and CCG. In the first mentioned part everything is just great: there is a rich story, charismatic and memorable characters, a big maps with secrets and hidden places to explore, but the strongest side afore all other is its storytelling and voicing, such level of implementation i haven`t seen for a long time. It is like some good novel, where you don`t want to miss any dialogues. As for the card`s part of the game - this is not so cool, the battles are easy to win and the puzzles are easy to solve and this is a main problem. If we met some more challenging battles and puzzles and were forced to remade a deck more often, it would be much more interesting to play. All in all, we got a really quality game, that can hook even non-Witcher fans.

Average Game, with potential

I can say that it's one of average games even if I have played it with pleasure. First impression was very good, but later i have been caught by boredom. Story line is very good, and interesting, multiple endings exist and are based on our decisions. As, i said this game was nice to play but for one, two hours per day. You shouldn't play longer or you will be bored. This game need ore activities that will add more fun when wandering map. Need more changes in gwent gameplay, propably more playable cards, even weather ones.

Difficult to redo decisions.

This game has several crucial plot points that involve a decision. This changes the events and story in the game. That in itself isn't bad, it adds to reputability later on. However if you've setup your hand to play with certain cards and they you suddenly loose those cards. Or have a play through that was to get a card but you weren't paying attention at the right time, you loose out any chance of getting the card. The save system is terrible, there are up to 3 slots that seem to be arbitrarily picked. So you can't go back and redo a recent action or decision. It might be 1 hour back in game play it might be 6. This becomes very frustrating. That aside, this is a great card style game. I brings back memories of the good magic the gathering games, but draped with the lore and story of the witcher. If it wasn't for the really poor save system this would easily be a 5 star game.
