Thief™ 3: Deadly Shadows

As others have mentioned, lockpicking won't work. I'm playing this on Windows 11 and can't get past the first part of mission 1 where you need to pick a lock. You enter lockpicking mode, but are unable to do anything and are returned to the game several seconds later. IMO, this issue should be fixed before continuing to sell it. It's unplayable. As for the game itself, it has better graphics than the first two, but isn't as fun. The story in it is meh. I see what they were going for, focusing on the Keepers in the main plotline, but it doesn't feel as connected to the world lore as the original two. The gameplay is alright. I prefer the older games because the levels were bigger and better designed. There are a few new features, like guards with torches, snuffing candles with your fingers, etc. Some of those are welcome additions, and the better graphics do help you see around the levels better. I experienced an issue with the graphics where when exit, your Window's resolution is changed, sometimes to a resolution you didn't even use (I ended up in 640x480). The other two Thief games on GOG don't have that issue. My overall rating is 3 stars (1 star unti this version works). This game is average. If you're a Thief series fan, then I would recommend it if you can find a working version. If you've never played the series before and are ok with older graphics, then I highly recommend playing the first one and if you like it, the second. Save this one for later.

Not as good as 1 & 2 but still better then 99% of the garbage that's made today.

Thief: Deadly Shadows is maybe the weakest game in original trilogy: the limitations of engine and Xbox console led to small levels divided by loading zones; there are no swimming and climbing on rope arrows anymore. The movement system is clunky and awkward. But weakest doesn't mean "bad" in this case. It's still Thief, game with high level of interactivity: you can stack crates, distract or KO guards, douse torches... The sandbox nature of first games still preserved here. The graphics are also good despite it's not that important for me. I think that TDS also has the best plot out of all three games: mysterious conspiracy involving faction of Keepers, magical artifacts, urban legends and missing orphans in the past... I only advice to play it with latest version of Sneaky Upgrade (just google it or visit this thread: https://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138607) especially if you have troubles with launching this game "out of the box". And of cource to play previous games, Thief: The Dark Project (Thief Gold) and Thief II: The Metal Age.

Lots of Thief fans says This game is not great, after finished it for the first time last year I have to say its really great, feels like Thief, it can not be as polished as thief 2, it has some clunky and some problems but its an amazing experience. Dont forget to get Sneaky Upgrade to play it!

It's the only game in the series that I played (and completed). I found the plot very intriguing and the atmosphere like Garrett's voice: mystical and mesmerizing. Certainly one of my fondest video game experiences even though there are missions which made my hair stood on end.
