Game is broken and will not load, can't even make it to the main menu. It is a known issue, the only way to make it work is to limit the number of cores opperating in your CPU (and for some people, like me, that doesn't work)
Apparently people have been having this issue for years and there are still no fixes from the devs
I gave Techomancer four stars instead of five because of needing to go through the same areas over and over, with defeated enemies come back to life to repeat the same fight. There are science problems in the sci-fi (why is the sun so deadly on Mars?), but the story is strong. It's both a prequel and sequel to Mars: War Logs, since the story starts earlier and goes on later. The characters and dialogue are good, there are player choices that affect the world, which is larger gray. Characters are rarely just good or bad. I also liked Mars: War Logs, and if there were a sequel, I'd play it.
I played Mars: War Logs before, so I knew what awaits me in this game :)
I have to admit, it is good, I mean really good. The story is very enjoyable, at least for me it was.
Yes, there are many backtracking between different locations, here and there, especially with sidequests, but you know what? Thats why you know the places better and better.
I have made myself a build of two specializations: technomancer (magic) and warrior (attack with stick). It did work for me quite ok.
I only did have two crashed, but that because I ALT+TABed out of the game and when you leave it in this mode it will hang after 15 Minutes or so. So don't do that. Save the progress and exit the game.
I played on: Ryzen 5 1600 with Radeon RX VEGA 7 integrated GPU, 32 GB DDR 3200 MHz RAM, 1 TB SSD, Windows 10 Home 64-bit 21H2. Low settings, 1080p, I've got about 27-45 fps, depending on the scene in the game.
So, if you have a better dedicated GPU, it should work without bigger problems.
I've never played Spiders game. The premiss of SF and RPG on Mars catched my eye, as well as the discounted price.
At firs I felt little lost with controls and suroundings. Died severall times to first enemies.
It was great.
I started learning to play, was not dying so often and felt acomplished. Finally I've catched all of the mechanics (like upgrades, switching skills and placing mines) and fighting, which started to become tedious, became very enjoyable and rewarding.
The world building, with characters and stories, is solid. It is a little clitche-ish sometimes, but not too much.
Music is awesome. It is the best part of the game. 12/10
The "romans" part of the game was almost not existing. GOG should not use that tag.
Would recommend to any SF RPG fan who are not looking for Dark Souls on Mars.
Got the game on sale and was looking forward to some mediocre fun. The game won't start and crashes to desktop at the loading screen. I look online - have to force windows to start with only 4 cores. Wow, even Mars War Logs didn't have an issue with that. Fixable, sure. But worth it?? Probably not. I choose to take this as a sign from God that I should play something else.
