I love Spyders...But.

Having fallen in love with Greedfall (and finishing a recent replay of it), I decided to take one step back in the developer's evolutionary tree to The Technomancer. All of the things that I expected, positive and negative, were there (a rich world that I wanted to learn more about, horrible voice acting, interesting and challenging combat, a metric ton of jank, &c.). However, I have had so many quests, esp. side quests, glitch out or bug out on me (running on a Windows 10 machine which is no slouch), CtDs, full computer restarts mid-cutscene, and the like that I eventually had to give up on it. I wanted to play more, but the feeling I got from the game was that I would not be permitted to do so. Just wait for the sequel to Greedfall.

Decent small RPG

Only played 5 hours of the game so far. So this is more a first impression than a review. I got the game on sale and so far it's woth the money. Even at it full price it ain't bad. Sound and voice: - Some of the writing is weird and sometimes the voice acting is a bit off. but not enough to ruin the experience since most of it is fine. - Music is fine as well but I tent to forget about since most of the time. Graphics: - Not bad at all for a small indie RPG. On Max settings it looks good. - Lip sync is awful xD - A few glitches here and there, but nothing major. Gameplay: - If you have played games like KOTOR, Dragon Age Origin, The Witcher 2 you know what you are in for. Side quests to complete, loot, gear, skills points, party members to talk to and moral choices to make (good and bad). - No crashes or game breaking bugs during my gameplay. Story: Since I haven’t complete the game yet, I can’t really say much. But so far it’s very classic for an RPG. So nothing is mind-blowing + the game make is pretty easy to find out who the evil and weird people are. I would have loved to see some of the early moral choices being a bit harder. As I said, the bad guys ain’t hard to spot, within the first 2 hours. I will update the review as soon as I play more or complete the game :)

Great world, okay combat and writing

I did enjoy parts of this game a lot, I thought the world and mutated animal enemy design was just wonderful. I liked the cyberpunk cities with a really red, dark and dusty feel that comes witht the game taking place on mars. I felt like the combat was okay, with two main moves and a dodge move. I mainly played as a warrior who has a long staff and can either do a swing move or a spin around move that does two hits and moves you forward a bit. I think the combat gets like, a C. It can feel really weird where when an enemy dodges they become invincible during the animation and just don't take damage even if they get hit, which if you're playing with a long range staff happens quite often. The hits do have a nice weight to them and there is a lot of customization with 3 different fighting stances and a bunch of skill trees. I fucking HATE how when you're in combat you can't go through doors, it doesn't make any sense, why can't I just open this door and go through it? There also seems to be a huge gap between how hard easy and normal mode are. Normal mode felt like it was a bit too hard at times, and easy mode just felt insultingly easy. In normal mode you die in about 3 hits, and the enemies take about 6 hits to kill when there are usually lots of enemies in each fight, in easy this is completely reversed giving you what feels like too much of an advantage. There's no good balance to the combat in my expierence, it's either too easy or too hard. The game is also really not optimised very well, despite the simple graphics the game did constantly run at like 20 fps even at lower settings when my computer has no problem running big open world FPS games at like 45-60 FPS. If you have a powerful computer this won't be a problem though. I do think this game is worth a shot if it goes on sale, just wasn't really my thing. I did end up beating it and there were a lot of parts I enjoyed, but also a lot of annoying or boring parts.

Not amazing but pretty good

The biggest disadvantage of this game is backtracking. Really annoying. But all the rest is just fine. Interesting story, the combat system gives a lot of fun. For such money, I think it's worth it.

If you like action w difficulty spikes.

Not a bad game. Visually, it has appeal. Good ideas. First ginormous boss was too difficult. I am going to give up after a half hour and dozen attempts. Too bad for the learning curve or need to do homework ny watching yt vids. No go for me as it stopped being fun.
