The Lords of Midnight

I remember this one! So many games totally forgotten but this was a masterpiece and trailblazer of its time. I was really curious how well this would work for me today and surprisingly the basic strategy part is still as good as it was back then. Limited forces and above all limited time to gather and concentrate them makes this game very, very hard if you are ambitious about stopping the hordes early. The quest part is weak, to put it mildly, by modern standards. I suspect that most if not all who have no fond memories of OLD games will find this game unbearable due to total lack of eye candy and sounds and the lack any sort of stuff we have grown accustomed to in titles like TotalWar, but as a nostalgy trip it is a little gem that made me smile. 5 stars in 1984, 0 stars in 2013 = 3 stars

The most ground breaking game of its time and the best Spectrum strategy game ever.

The challenge provided by the game still stands up after all these years. I know it's beatable, i've beaten it many times. In the age of dumbed down gameplay, this is a chess masters game.

Played this at 16 years old . Playing now at 58 ..love it , love it..still the best !

Brought back memories, but it seems there's no way to Save game or even minimise it, which will ensure I probably won't play it again, as it's a marathon!
