You will guide individual characters across the land of Midnight on vital quests but you will also command armies that must endeavour to hold back the foul hordes of Doomdark, the witch king. Lords of Midnight

OMG I remember playing this on my brand new Sinclair Spectrum I can't remember what Spectrum model I was using then I really enjoyed what I played but the Spectrum with its rubber keyboard wasn't the ideal games machine. I remember waiting for it to load from my little casette recorder and then loading the blank tape for my saves. I was new to adventure games and never got very far into it lack of time coupled with the less than user friendly machines those days. It was a truly amazing game for its time and from my experiences and ageing memory of gameplay I would recommend the game. I will probably buy it and perhaps visit the loft and get the tape and my spectrum out again just to remind myself how things used to be.

Lords of Midnight

Oh! The hours I spent playing this game on my Spectrum(s)! I still have the whole packaging, the cassettes (with my saves too!), the manual, the keyboard cover with the layout of the controls! This was THE GAME that defined the Spectrum for me! It's thus such a pleasure to see the the original edition rendered for PC!

For nostalgia-tinted glasses

I remember having The Lords of Midnight back on speccy. I remember having no clue what it was about (those were the times when you'd have just a pirated copy on a cassette with no manual in Poland). Then I learned a bit about the game and thought that it'd be nice to play it one day. Well... It was an interesting experience to finally see what this game was about but I think this game along with its mechanics aged rather badly. If you loved the original then you might like it in a re-drawn mouse-controllable form. Otherwise you might find it a bit weird and not up to today's standards.

In my all time top ten

In my personal top ten of all time favourite games. I've loved this since the late lamented genius Mike Singleton released it on my C64 gaming eons ago. A game from 1984 that I still play today on my emulators and have thoroughly enjoyed again in its new life here on GOG. 36 years of gaming last-ability now that's what I call value for money :) Loving the additional novella and artworks etc as well. SUPERB

Requires nostalgia goggles

This is a text-adventure game from the early 80s. It's pretty neat in terms of scope and freedom of choice. It's also incredibly rough if you didn't play it back in the day. Definitely not for everyone.
