The dark side of the Arthurian stories
Being an avid boardgamer I was following the comings and goings of Awaken Realms ever since their first boardgame on This War of Mine. Since then they've continued to push their boundaries and by doing so have earned a massive fanbase with boardgamers. I was extremely delighted when they were going to push Tainted Grail to a video game. Ive been playing it since alpha and its been a hell of a journey. So how does the game actually play :P You've got 2 game modes, campaign and conquest. The campaign mode is different from the story in the boardgame, if I remember correctly, but the mode that I have been playing the most is the conquest mode. In it you get to develop your character by gaining loot and cards to add to your deck. You've got three classes, brawler, berserker and guardian. They each have their own playstyle. The Berserker is my favourite. Planning out taking hits, only to heal myself by using his ability. Its very fun to see a plan work out. This mode being a roguelike it can be very very brutal in the beginning. But soon you get to know your enemies and how to best counter the various kinds you encounter. I could go on and on about how the game works, but better reviews have been made I reckon. Keep in mind its still in early acces, so there will be bugs (its really rewarding to find one and see the dev-team fix it in the next build of the game), but as early acces games go, this one is very very decent already.
