Fun concept, but poorly executed
I remember playing this in the past and remember that it was both fun and frustrating. According to GOG Galaxy, I played it 7 years ago. Replaying it now, I see that time has colored my perception of the game. Yes, there certainly are parts of it that are fun, but (for me) it is much more frustrating than fun. This is definitely what you would call a precision platformer. The levels are designed so that you need to be nearly-pixel-perfect precise with the grapple and rocket boot mechanics. It doesn't help that you don't know what you can grapple onto until it is "in range" (which sometimes means you have only about 0.05 seconds or less to see, process, and change the object to which you're grappled). Additionally, you frequently need to run and boost-jump off of ledges, but that mechanic doesn't always work (it's as if it drops the jump input). As if that isn't bad enough, the game frequently does not give any hints as to where you need to go next or where you have been, so it's very easy to not know where to go (especially when you get disoriented from the grapple-swinging), which only adds to your frustration. Lastly, as others have pointed out, when grappling onto rocks (which is most of the game), you frequently bump into the rock, which causes your grapple to disengage and you immediately fall (usually to your death, causing you to replay from the last checkpoint). Thankfully, the checkpoints appear to be relatively close, but there are still extremely frustrating sections with extremely precise grapple-swinging required, so even with close checkpoints, it's a frustrating chore. I do enjoy the game A LOT when the mechanics work well, but it is not fun having to replay the same section 20+ times, even if each attempt takes only 20-30 seconds. The gameplay may be non-violent, but the frustration caused by the precision required may very well drive YOU to violence. This is definitely a rage-inducing game if you are not good at precision platforming.
