A FAN But...
I am a big fan of AoE franchise so the moment this Ensemble Studio creation at sight I bought it immediately... However I remember in the databank section they used to play music / sound effect with images... How come it is missing in this port? Please update it thank you so much...

The best thing to come from prequels.
I spent so many hours on this game. Yes, it's just Age of Empires II with Star Wars Units, but it does such a good job with that. The campaign story is decent and long enough to be satisfying. The battles are grindy, especially if you're expecting StarCraft II-speed battles, but once you get into the rhythm there's a lot of fun to be had on those maps. And the units for all the different factions make even the gungans playable. (They are, unsurprisingly, very very good in naval combat.) Although, I have to admit, once you've played through the campaigns it's fun to set up one-off games where you just go in and wipe out the gungans over and over again. Take that, Jar Jar!

Recently, an AoE2 commentator, renaissance22channel, has made some videos about this game, I suggest, if you have the game, or just want the game check out his channel and watch his videos. I personally have the game and play it on Voobly. You should too.

The Force is with this one.
This was essentially a mod to Age of Kings back in a day when you could get away with releasing such a thing and fool people into thinking it was an original game. Actually this still happens. Quite a lot actually. But anyway, I am not here to talk about THOSE games. I am here to talk about Galactic Battlegrounds. Derivative as it may be, it's still fun as hell. It was fun then, and it's fun now. What makes it fun? Star Wars of course! Copious amounts of it. Some of it makes no sense. That's okay, don't let it stop you. There is something incredibly satisfying watching your little Jedi dude put the hurting on things twice his size. The campaign here is mostly fun and interesting for the most part. There are some dull moments, particularly the Tutorial, which is just horrific. The best bit? Star Wars music! The game is full of it! Listening to the Imperial March while churning out units offers an experience very few Star Wars games can match. It's a fantastic game, and a steal for this price.

It's an Age of Empires 2 mod.
The strategic gameplay is great - just like AoE. That's just it. I remember looking forward for ths, only to feel like I was playing a mod for Age of Empires II, but with a bunch of messy characters and clumsy animations. It looked and felt overal like a fan made mod. AoE was amazing, but this felt so unoriginal that just won't work for me. Maybe for more hardcore fans of Star Wars it will.
