Star Trek™: Starfleet Command III

On Windows 10, the game won't start. I should'nt have to do research, troubleshoot and solve it myself. If GOG is going to sell this game for money, they should at least make sure IT WORKS FIRST. This sets a very bad precedent, now they're gonna start selling broken games? By the way some of the 'solutions' in the reviews do not work. Stay away from this game until they patch it. I'll be looking for a refund.

I was delighted when this came out, enjoyed it alot when I was younger. There are some nice mods out there as well that improve the graphics and add more ships, check out the Forums. For me the game works out of the box. There was a mouse lag issue but that was caused by Nvidia driver and not the game, the latest drivers seem to have fixed this now. Other than that, I have noticed there is about a 20% chance of the game crashing when you start a mission. Saving before missions stops this being to much of a pain however. Otherwise, gameplay it has several campaigns for Romulan, Klingon and Federation as well as free form campaigns for all three plus Borg. You travel around the map doing missions, earning enough points so you can upgrade your starship with new equipment or get a better starship. Combat is slower paced and more tactical, focus more on manuvering, shield positioning and weapon recharge rotation. For people that like star trek or space combat simulators I can recommend.

Back in the day I rather liked the game. Overall, I still do. But now on a windows 10 and 11, for me, the game is unplayable on an enjoyable level. I dunno the technicals but missing shots is something that's hugely upregulated on windows 10 and 11. It's probably bug and the missing is so frequent that it makes playing battles as anyone other than the borg (with their overwhelming firepower) a real slog. Sometimes it'll stalemate the battle one on one. Worst case scenario I have to retreat because I just can't deal enough damage. It's not a skill issue. Just too many missed shots and there's no way to counter it. So for that reason, I'd recommend it but with caution.

FInally a star trek game that remebers you're piloting warships, not space fighters

Ive had no issues at all launching or playing the game like some others that have left reviews. However there is a fundemental issue that makes the game unplayable. The ship isnt centred on screen. This means when you turn left or right with the ship the ship doesnt move to the correct position. this makes it impossible to navigate correctly especially durning battles. If you look at the same screenshots gog have used you can see the issue im talking about the ship is about an inch too far to the left. You can resolve this by hitting D but this removes the HUD. You can also see a correction by hitting O but this is very breif and the ship go back to the wrong position. Do not buy this game until this is resolved.
