Star Trek™: Starfleet Command III

GOG is currently selling a glitched version of this game. As others have said, the ships are not centered while the HUD is up, which makes it nearly unplayable. Additionally, the images of the ships are missing from the HUD and from the dockyard entirely; it's just a bunch of floating system icons. Wait to buy until GOG patches these issues.

All I can say is go to the install directory and tinker with the dxcfg app... Keep in mind this game was not designed for modern resos... I had to set for 1024x768 with aspect ratio correction and compatibility mode for WinXP SP3 for this game to work for me... this will likely vary depending on GPU Manufacturer and specific GPU generation... Great game beyond the hour I spent tinkering to get it to work :)

To be honest, don’t normally leave reviews but since they nearly put me off getting this I felt need to add one. I’ve been desperately wanting to play this game again for nearly a decade. As a MacBook owner running windows through boot camp, I was not optimistic of this working. It did, perfectly each time without need to tinker (even the cutscenes others reporting issues with). The game can be a little slow paced, and hasn’t aged as well as Armada 2, but to say I am happy to be playing this at last is beyond understatement

While I am still waiting for Starfleet Command II to come out, SFC3 comes in a close second. This is just as fun as I remember and playing it again feels like reconnecting with an old friend. My only complaint is a recurring problem where starting a "Scan" mission will occasionally crash to desktop. I don't know what causes this but it's happened on multiple occasions with different ships and with different factions. Is it worth the money? If you're a fan of Star Trek, Next Generation in particular, yes. If you're not familiar with the Star Trek franchise then you might want to wait until SFC3 goes on sale.

I use a 2560x1440 monitor and if you try default/fullscreen it will crash out on startup. 1) Navigate to your SFC3 Installation Folder (Star Trek SFC3) 2) Open up the Assets folder and go to Cinema 3) Create a new folder (Name it anything) and place the following files into the newly created folder Activision.bik, Paramount.bik & Taldren.bik 4) Navigate back to the Star Trek SFC3 Folder 5) Double-Click DXCFG.EXE 6) Under the "Presentation:" tab, select "Windowed" and then hit Save. Game should run in 'fullscreen' with blackbars for the side borders. This worked for me but your mileage my vary depending on your set-up. Heres to hoping that they improve the wrapper even further!
