Star Trek™: Starfleet Command III

Like some other reviewees, this old favorite of mine worked fine out of the box (thank you GOG), though I think it depends a lot on what you've got in your machine. During the hour I've spent playing it so far, I've only had a stuttery graphics issue that makes it a bit less fun to play. Other than that, I don't have any other issues to list, and I'm enjoying playing this game again after so long.

Activision Star Trek games were known for two things: good voice acting and being child's play to mod and edit. I played a skirmish in a Galaxy class starship and had a very long and very difficult battle with two Imperial class Star Destroyers. The main campaign is pretty good, and referenced the events of Star Trek Armada and Star Trek Away Team, which I really loved when I was a kid. It's VERY streamlined compared to the earlier Command games (like the stupendous Empires At War) and it does suffer a little because of it, but it's still a fun one. If you like Star Trek, give this game a try.

As a Game alone I would say it's a good SFC Game. Love the customisation options. What I don't like is the completely stupid flying AI for fleet encounters and the lack of depth in regards to SFC II (+ Orion Pirates) and they all lack a bit in regards of the Pen and Paper they are based on. Dream would be a SFC II Orion Pirates.

Had this game basically since the original release, although I had to buy a new disk a couple of years ago. One of my favorite games (not just Star Trek games) ever. Takes place in my favorite era, offers a nice selection of ships that you can costumize to your liking and a three-part campaign that's fun to play. And the best part: The game is highly modable. Almost any aspect can be tweaked and there are tons of mods still around, from better textures to additional ships to massive conversions. Lately, it's became harder and harder to keep it running under Windows 10, so when I realized that gog offers an updated version, I couldn't resist. Ran right out of the box without adjustments and I could reapply my old mod without problems. All in all, a great experience. Thank you gog.
