One of the greatest!
I've been a fan since the first ROTT! Been playing on and off ever since. Still enjoy the challenges and graphics!

Single Player = TERRIBLE
100% accurate enemies that pop out doors only after you walk past them. VERY HARD to see them most of the time. I haven't gotten to the MP yet, but it seems to have potential. If you want a good Singleplayer shooter of this style, go with SHADOW WARRIOR instead. If you want Multiplayer, then stick around.

A Disappointing Download
What a waste of money this was. I love a good retro game like Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, or Return to Castle Wolfenstein. But R.O.T. 2013 was so glitchy & bug infested it was almost unplayable. The music was annoying and the mouse control is very sloppy. Advise you to pass this one up, especially for the price.

Boomer-FPS without Boomer-FPS-mechanics
I gave "Rise of the Triad (2013)" a shot because I had played the original back in the days. However, the devs clearly did not understand what makes boomer shooters so awesome. DISCLAIMER: I stopped playing this game after three hours, because I was so fed up with it, so some points of my criticism may not apply to the late game. There is almost no variation in enemy types (other than their skin). The enemies only use hitscan weapons, which eliminates projectile dodges and makes fast movement obsolete. So, the most effective way to kill an enemy is actually to just stand still and shoot a magazine worth of ammo at him, while making sure you don't have line of sight to any other enemy. This is soooo boring! There is also no weapon shuffling, you have infinite ammo and the game is freaking easy even on highest difficulty. Combine that with the most boring level design you can imagine, and there you go: Rise of the Triad (2013). In a time where we are blessed with incredibly good boomer shooters like Amid Evil or Prodeus, there is really no place for a game like this.

Broken
One star might seem harsh but ive also had to post a plea for help in the GoG community section because the game is broken. It requires a 2gb fix patch (that isnt even available on gog yet) because it runs horribly on a high percentage of PCs. I even have a high end gaming rig and ROTT was horribly unplayable on it....terrible frame rate, stuttering audio, horribly over processed. Even after the post processing was removed the game still didnt play smooth at all....maybe underneath its a good game..maybe the massive 2gb fix patch will fix it (if it ever becomes available) I'm screwed either way cause I was given a gog copy by a friend, but because it's not on my actual gog account i cant download the fix even if I want to. To me, a broken game is the worst kind of game regardless of if it can be fixed eventually or not..fact is they shipped it like this knowing that some gamer's PC's will throw a fit at it...if you want proof of that just ask yourself how they could actually release a huge 2gb fix patch right after releasing it....fix patches like that don't get made over-night. So goddamn dissapointed..you have no idea how much i was looking forward to this.
