Description
Rebel Galaxy is a swashbuckling space adventure, with action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and “negotiation” with the outlandish denizens at the edge of the known universe.

As the commander of an immensely powerful star destroyer, you’ll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer – or maybe a little of each! Buy larger and more powerful craft with your hard-earned credits, and outfit them with a variety of wicked weapons and defenses. Set in a galaxy of fantastic sights, and secrets to be found, Rebel Galaxy is above all a space epic of adventure, exploration, and combat.

The edge of the universe is a pretty dangerous place, so watch your back.
  • Captain a massive spaceship engaging in epic scale space battles.
  • Trade, negotiate, mine asteroids, hunt bounties, be a pirate and explore a randomized open-world galactic map.

Rebel Galaxy simplifies the formula in an approachable and exciting way, but the 2D space combat, lack of direction and loneliness of single-player space-faring hold it back from reaching the epic scale of other space sims. A fun solo venture, but it won't suck out thousands of your hours.

With a vast world with a huge amount to do, set in a space western and an outstanding soundtrack to accompany it, Rebel Galaxy has a simple but engaging and visually spectacular combat system. Rebel Galaxy has more than enough to keep you engaged, though best played in small doses.

a fun alternative to Privateer

I thought the removal of a 3d plane would make this worse, but with the more complex ship combat it's actually manageable

Super fun game.

This game is an absolute blast! Well designed, nice level of difficulty, and just all around fun. Just remember to upgrade your ship every chance you get or you WILL get you butt kicked. This game is great for when you don't know what you want to play and just want to kill some time...until you notice you've been playing for 5 hours straight and you were supposed to leave for work 2 hours ago.
