Description
Rebel Galaxy is a swashbuckling space adventure, with action-packed combat, exploration, discovery, trade, and “negotiation” with the outlandish denizens at the edge of the known universe.

As the commander of an immensely powerful star destroyer, you’ll battle pirates, explore anomalies, befriend aliens, scavenge battle wreckage, mine asteroids, and discover artifacts. Choose your path as a roguish do-gooder, crafty space-trader or power-hungry privateer – or maybe a little of each! Buy larger and more powerful craft with your hard-earned credits, and outfit them with a variety of wicked weapons and defenses. Set in a galaxy of fantastic sights, and secrets to be found, Rebel Galaxy is above all a space epic of adventure, exploration, and combat.

The edge of the universe is a pretty dangerous place, so watch your back.
  • Captain a massive spaceship engaging in epic scale space battles.
  • Trade, negotiate, mine asteroids, hunt bounties, be a pirate and explore a randomized open-world galactic map.
  • Make your own path through a dialog-tree driven storyline making friends and enemies of a variety of alien factions

Great third person space shooter

Many people say that this game has a freelancer vibe to it. I would tend to slightly disagree, but that doesn't really describe how great this game is. The first thing you notice is the soundtrack. Absolutely wonderful music that gives you the feel you're a space cowboy or maybe a space biker. The combat is not like other space shooters. You only have 4 degrees of freedom and the bulk of the time you're firing broadside weapons and timing your deflectors. You do have turrets that will fire on targets at will or as per your configuration. None of that detracts from the combat. It is fast, furious, and dangerous. Even with a fully capable ship, you can still get blasted to space dust. The equipment is pretty standard for this genre of game, but this is the weakest part of the game. For the most part you just have maybe 4 or 5 different types of weapons, armor, engines, etc that level from 1 to 6 as you enter harder systems. However, you can attack special event ships that may drop powerful ship components you cannot buy. Random missions can be a grind, but you are playing something like Freelancer, so you need to make money somehow. The trading aspect of this game is kind of broken and not really worth doing. You make more collecting the dropped cargo from destroyed ships than buying and selling from different sectors. All in all I played it though twice with different ships and loadouts and I had fun. I recommend picking this up especially if it is on sale.

Fun, but wishing for more.

It's a great game, the music and theme to the setting is very nice and great to blow crap up to. But I wish there was more to it. Faction-building, production, something of the sort where you can set your own goals. I feel it's lacking in the end-game other than turning rouge against EVERYONE. Otherwise, the game is- again -great. The music and sound are grand and bluesy, good for the feel and tone they're going for (a space western). The ships are fun to fly and you're not restricted to any singular ship! You can have a wing-man as well to help with the tougher fights, and you can also find unique loot that nomrally can't be bought by searching junk-feilds, mine-feilds, containers. Dead-drops and more. So, in all, a 4 out of 5 for a great game. The game does what it sets out to do, and does it very well. But I was hoping for more afterwards. Saddly, it doesn't look to be so. Oh well, I would wholly recommend this regardless for a fun space-romp. Just don't expect the X-games or Elite.

Southern rock space pirates!

It's cool. Maybe a little bit repetitive, but it's really a new turn in spaceship videogames.

The space sim for the less crazy people

If you have that want to play a space sim, but Elite Dangerous is to daunting and Star Citizen is to far away then this is the game for you. Some might say the combat is dumbed down when compared to those games which they would be right. But it's not dumbed down to the point were it's not challenging. The visuals are good for the art style they're going for. The fact that you're not just exploring a black void makes it more enjoyable and pleasing to the eyes. Audio is great unless you're not into the type of music they're going for. Two gripes with the game so far would be the annoying noise they chose for when someone pops up on the radio and (at least so far the starting area) it seems empty with nothing really catching my eye to go explore.
