I am sitting here for almost a hour and thinking how i can describe this game. And my answer? I can't. This game is just so awesome there aren't enough words for describing it. But still, i try.... So, i played game for first time and saw graphic settings. I was like : Whoeeaaa boohjooo coool! And then i clicked on new game and... It was fine. Until i fell into trap and it was like BOOOOOM GrrrGAHAHAH Boooom BRbooo BWaaah! SMASH SMASH! GUAAAAAAA! swish SWOOOSH, So... It was like that.

I am 100% impressed with this game. As an older gamer who grew up with the games that this pays homage to, I can say that it nails the experience completely. The graphics are quite beautiful, the movement is fluid, the weapons are extremely fun and the points and perk system allow for massive replayability. If you miss the likes of Doom, Hexen and Duke Nukem 3D then I would recommend giving this a shot.

The game has it's flaws, mainly: - needs more diffuculty settings - last episode is a bit hectic throwing like every monster in the game against you and not being strong thematically apart from like 2 maps (compared to other episodes) - looks rather terrible UNTIL you go meddle with graphics settings (mainly - why threshold defaulted at 0.1?!), but once you've done with that looks really nice - some secrets allow for infinite levelling, but that may be intentional - can't have several parallel playthroughs - optimization is non-existent, FPS drops should not be an issue with this type of game! BUT otherwise, I've had great time with this game and definitely buying it, because I want more games of the sort to appear in the market.

This game is good, like damn good. Now, this is with the caveat that you prefer Doom 1/2 vs Heretic or quake. Nods to other games, weapons & upgrades that just feel right, secrets EVERYWHERE... This just itches an itch that I've had for a while. My criticism, it's too damn dark. Like literally, half the damn game I've been spamming the "light" spell just to see the enemies. Not a deal-breaker, more of a "be-advised" more than anything. TLDR: A solid purchase for Doom-fans that's cheap enough for any faults I've found to be considered minor at worst.
