Big, flashy and loud, but best enjoyed in bursts.
The movement in this feels great, and the weapons, although a little muted with regards to audio, feel powerful and have great visual feedback. It's a little hard to see what is going on at times, and it would be nice if we could use the Loadout screen to add or remove options from our arsenal - I'm about 8 maps into the game now, and I could quite happily do without the Shredder rifles or the pistol ever again, rather than having to scroll past them.
My only real sticking point here is the lack of any real narrative, although given the type of game that Prodeus harkens back to (and improves upon) this is hardly a universal criticism. That and the visual effects, though I admit these can be reduced through the menu.
Anyway, back to Prodeus.
BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
Mobs and Gore. Another in the growing list of pitch perfect retro shooters. I usually wait to buy games on sale, but these people deserve my money. My only regret is impulse buying it on Steam before checking here.
Man, does this game bring back memories! And it's a new game! It definitely plays like it's a successor to Doom and for that very reason, I love every bit of it.
I've not been experiencing any slow downs when playing. The game is blazingly fast on my PC, running full screen on my 2K ultra-wide monitor. I love the pseudo-retro look, old-school game play, coupled with some new technology. Prodeus is pure joy and mayhem all mixed into one!
If I had to find one con, it's that I hate having to go through a zillion screens to exit a game. Games like this I play when I'm short on time and just want to slay a few demons before getting back to work. Having to exit this, that, and the other just to leave the game? It's an irritant. But it's a minor one. So, not too big a deal.
Prodeus is an authentic and stylish return to the old school PC shooters of the 90s.
I'm a kickstarter backer, and I'm thrilled with how this game has been made.
The level design is fun and the graphics are great. Somewhere between Quake and Doom 3, quality wise.
Lots of gore, smoke, sparks, fire, dynamic lighting etc. The game looks awesome to play.
I love how Prodeus balances modern day polish with old school design.
The music is fantastic, truly has some surprising moments.
Sound FX are punchy! THIS is how an FPS should sound. Aggressive and in your face.
The monsters are cool over all, but the demonic bull dog is a little silly. None the less, I make a mess with his insides.
If you played shooters in the 90s, this is a no brainer.
If you like fast paced games, with lots of violence, and no hand holding, get this game.
It's fast paced, refreshing and fun.
