Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack
Description
Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition includes the unaltered original version and the Enhanced Edition in one definitive collection exclusively on GOG.com. (The original version will be automatically added to your account after purchase.) The original Planescape: Torment was released in 1999 to widespread critical acclaim. It won RPG of the Year from multiple outlets for its unconventional story, characters, and amazing soundtrack. Since then, millions of Planescape: Torment fans have enjoyed exploring the strange and dangerous city of Sigil and surrounding planes through the Nameless One's eyes.

Discover an incredibly rich story and a setting unlike anything else in fantasy. Defeat strange and alien creatures, engage in rich dialogue, and explore the dark and dangerous Planescape setting in this 50+ hour RPG classic.

This is Planescape: Torment like you’ve never seen before."What can change the nature of a man?" - You are the Nameless One, a hulking figure covered in scars and tattoos collected over the course of countless lives—none of which you can remember, but are now coming back to haunt you. You are prodded awake by Morte, a floating skull and keeper of secrets, to embark on an adventure taking The Nameless One from the dirty streets of Sigil into the mysterious Outer Planes and even into the depths of Hell itself.

Portals riddle the planar metropolis of Sigil, providing access to anywhere in existence, but only if you have the proper key. Known as the "City of Doors," Sigil is a neutral ground where demons, devas, and races from across the multiverse gather under the watchful shadow of the Lady of Pain, the city's enigmatic ruler. This is a place where the word is mightier than the sword, where thought defines reality, and belief has the power to reshape worlds.

In your search for answers, you'll find companions matching the bizarre nature of the planes: a chaste succubus who can kill with a kiss, a confused crossbow-wielding cube, a suit of armor animated by a spirit demanding JUSTICE, and more. With these companions and others at The Nameless One’s side, you will explore worlds in search of answers, all to discover that some destinies cannot be escaped and some memories cost more than an even an immortal can bear.

Fantastic Setting, Tedious Gameplay

I love the original hook of the game. The fact that the protagonist and I were in the same situation – no knowledge of this crazy land – really gripped me. There was a mystery to be solved and I felt compelled to find out more. Why can't I die? What am I? The setting is completely unique for me. I loved the idea of planes of existence being reflections of the axes of alignment – Good, Neutral, Evil & Chaotic, Neutral, Lawful. The worldbuilding is very impressive. The world felt epic and expansive. I went from being completely bewildered by everything to being somewhat comfortable with what was going on. As I progressed further into it, I felt the gameplay start to get pretty tedious. It's just not that fun to click on monsters and wait for them to die in between finding places to rest. There wasn't much challenge or depth. What I really wanted was just to get to the next story beat. I got pretty lost in middle of the game and had to look up the solution as I didn't realize I had to join a certain faction to progress. After that was when it started to feel more like a slog and I was just going through the motions to get the story payoff. I felt the game did a great job at building up the initial intrigue. However, as the mystery started to unravel, I started to lose interest in the story. It didn't quite land as I would have hoped. At the final animation, I was left thinking, "is that it?". Overall, I'd say I loved the setting moreso than the actual game. Setting: Incredible Story: Ok Gameplay: Boring

Among my most favourite CRPGs

What can I say what wasn't said already a thousand times? I absolutely adore the writing and particularly how much depth almost all characters have. Oh and the combat isn't as bad as everyone says, I had fun with it, even if it's not my most favourite CRPG combat

The Greatest Novel You'll Ever Play

This is hands down the best-written game of all time. It's essentially a deep, creative, unique, and highly interactive novel set in the most interesting Dungeons & Dragons setting, of which the writing makes sure to take full advantage. I'm not even sure how to describe this game, but it's on par with the greatest novels in its writing, plot, and message. A unique story in a unique setting. There really is nothing like it. You can just TASTE the words as you read them, with the ambient music setting the mood and the simple but effective colors setting the stage for your imagination. The spells are also really cool because hey, it is a D&D game after all. That said, there are two problems: 1. The game drags in some areas, such as the VERY BEGINNING. I quit the first time I played, but I am so glad I tried again. I am now on my third playthrough. 2. The combat, spells aside, sucks. You have all the control in the world when it comes to conversation, but almost none when it comes to combat. Combat is real time and the AI for the enemies, companions, and YOUR CHARACTER is awful. All you can do is click on enemies to tell your characters to attack them, but the actual attacking is down to them, and you just have to hope they'll actually do it. There's a reason why D&D is turn-based, and I don't see why this game isn't because it would have benefitted greatly if it was. Also it's really easy to cheese the combat by using the main ability of the comapnion you start the game with. That aside though, the primary gameplay here is dialogue trees, which luckily are the BEST I've ever seen. So if you want an emotional, intelligent, and interative story, look no further.

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition

This game remains one of the best I have ever played, and I was very happy to pick up the Enhanced version during a GOG sale some months back, since I had a lot of trouble running the original on my modern system. Just a note: I experienced the game crashing/freezing on Exit. The only way for me to quit, was to Alt Tab, and sign out of my Windows profile…which was extremely annoying. Recently, however, I found a way to fix this, so I want to mention it here, in case anyone else experiences the same issue: While the game is running, go into Options > Graphics, and tick Compatibility Renderer. Because you need to quit the game for such changes to take effect; it will still freeze on Exit, immediately afterwards, but after that, it's smooth sailing.

One of the best RPGs in existence

PLAY IT FOR THE STORY. IT'S THE BEST. P.S. You should first, IMHO, read couple of things about planescape setting. It will be easier for you to understand couple of things in the game.
