Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack
Description
Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition includes the unaltered original version and the Enhanced Edition in one definitive collection exclusively on GOG.com. (The original version will be automatically added to your account after purchase.) The original Planescape: Torment was released in 1999 to widespread critical acclaim. It won RPG of the Year from multiple outlets for its unconventional story, characters, and amazing soundtrack. Since then, millions of Planescape: Torment fans have enjoyed exploring the strange and dangerous city of Sigil and surrounding planes through the Nameless One's eyes.

Discover an incredibly rich story and a setting unlike anything else in fantasy. Defeat strange and alien creatures, engage in rich dialogue, and explore the dark and dangerous Planescape setting in this 50+ hour RPG classic.

This is Planescape: Torment like you’ve never seen before."What can change the nature of a man?" - You are the Nameless One, a hulking figure covered in scars and tattoos collected over the course of countless lives—none of which you can remember, but are now coming back to haunt you. You are prodded awake by Morte, a floating skull and keeper of secrets, to embark on an adventure taking The Nameless One from the dirty streets of Sigil into the mysterious Outer Planes and even into the depths of Hell itself.

Portals riddle the planar metropolis of Sigil, providing access to anywhere in existence, but only if you have the proper key. Known as the "City of Doors," Sigil is a neutral ground where demons, devas, and races from across the multiverse gather under the watchful shadow of the Lady of Pain, the city's enigmatic ruler. This is a place where the word is mightier than the sword, where thought defines reality, and belief has the power to reshape worlds.

In your search for answers, you'll find companions matching the bizarre nature of the planes: a chaste succubus who can kill with a kiss, a confused crossbow-wielding cube, a suit of armor animated by a spirit demanding JUSTICE, and more. With these companions and others at The Nameless One’s side, you will explore worlds in search of answers, all to discover that some destinies cannot be escaped and some memories cost more than an even an immortal can bear.

One of the least overrated experiences

I'm a newcomer to this game - no previous experience with the original version, Infinity Engine or D&D in general - so I have no insight regarding the enhancements. I can, however, say with full confidence that the positive reviews are in no way mired in nostalgia. It's one of the earlier examples of Obsidian(formerly Black Isles) taking someone's A-graded homework and touching up to circled and underlined A+ material. Yes I'm biased. One might understandably bounce off of this, though. I certainly did a couple times before giving it the time it needed to sink its hooks in. To start with the cons off the top of my head, it opens very slowly. The tutorial area is fairly large, and you'll spend a good hour or two just examining zombies and searching drawers for loose change before you really get to play. Unless you opt to go psycho and slash your way out. That's fine too. This pace is also somewhat indicative of the rest of the game, the majority of which is reading, with combat being scarce and spotty. Unless you wanna shank your way through life. That's allowed to an extent. Navigation is slow and combat is clunky - some say the worst of the IE games, but it seems on par with my limited Baldur's Gate experience. That's about it for cons. Slow as the opening is, the setup is bizarre enough it might rope you in on its own. You, an amnesiac, are awakened by a talking skull, in a mortuary where the corpses do the labor. The rest of the world is just as strange if not stranger. I'd long thought Morrowind was the only RPG that could get me so curious about the setting. I have a fly's attention span for reading, but I spent a few late night with my eyes glued to the text. The protagonist is one of the best executions of a player character with an existing backstory, and yet he's still a blank slate, every choice presented to you making sense in context. I don't think I'll ever forget the partners either. I can't guarantee you'll love it, but I hope you do. I sure did.

Overhyped

I had 15 years of listening to the hype about this "amazing experience" with "incredible writing" and a "fascinating world" with "engaging character." Imagine my surprise when it not only lived up to the hype, but exceeded it. I've had this game for 5 years now and on my first play through I was putting in 8 hours a time. It's completely riveting and I devoured every strange and wonderful element. I've played through a few times since and loved it just as much each time. There's not much I can say about this game that hasn't already been said a hundred times before, but if you haven't played it, you'd be doing yourself a disservice to miss out on gaming history. Planescape repeatedly makes it into lists of "Greatest Games Of All Time" for good reason.

Timeless

A true masterpiece from the times when it was OK to tell an interesting story without any narratives. Beamdog somehow managed to restrain themselves from 'enhancing the story for modern audiences''. Thank you.

Better Linux support for a perfect gem

Planescape: Torment is a well loved classic that I'm revisiting after playing (and loving) Torment: Tides of Numenara. I have the original GOG release so I didn't see a need to get EE... until a morning lost trying to get the original to play well with Wine or Proton. Evidently support regressed. EE gives us native 32 and 64bit binaries for Linux, and other than where they linked against an out of date libssl 1.0.0, it's running perfect again in both Manjaro and Pop!OS (once I tracked down and fixed the old dependency.)
