Noita is a magical action roguelite set in a world where every pixel is physically simulated. Fight, explore, melt, burn, freeze and evaporate your way through the procedurally generated world using spells you've created yourself. Explore a variety of environments ranging from coal mines to freezing wastelands while delving deeper in search for unknown mysteries.
Pixel-based physics: Every pixel in the world is simulated. Burn, explode or melt anything. Swim in the blood of your foes! Enter a simulated world that is more interactive than anything you've seen before.
Your own magic: Create new spells as you delve deeper into the caverns. Use magic to crush your enemies and manipulate the world around you.
Procedurally generated world: Explore a unique world every time you play. Discover new environments as you adventure deeper.
Action roguelite: Death is permanent and always a looming threat. When you die, don’t despair, use what you’ve learned to get further on your next adventure.
Noita is being developed by Nolla Games, a company set up by 3 indie developers, all of whom have worked on their own projects in the past.
The three gents in question are:
Petri Purho
Petri is best known as the creator of Crayon Physics Deluxe. In his youth he also made a lot tiny freeware games. He has also made a bunch of board games, but he hasn't told about it to anyone. So please keep it a secret.
Olli Harjola
Olli released his first commercial game The Swapper in 2013. Besides indie games, he also dabbles in music, live visuals and making programming languages.
Arvi Teikari
Arvi is also known as Hempuli. Over the years he has released a lot of tiny experimental games, so many in fact that he is unaware of all of them. One of the games he remembers making is Baba Is You.

Noita is easily one of the best games ever made, IMO. The physics engine is beautiful and perfect, the wand/spell crafting capabilities are vast and complex, and there is much more content than meets the eye. The main complaint people have is the difficulty, and don't get me wrong, this game is tough, but knowledge is the key. I have 1000+ hours banked in Noita, and I don't think I am better at it now than I was when I started, I just know more about crafting and where to explore. If you're a new player, I would suggest watching some YouTube clips of DunkOrSlam to see how the pros do it, and you'll have a win in no time.
If you do not mind having to die lots of deathes some of which pretty unfair if you are missing
knowledge that you can only gain by getting yourself disadvantaged and often leading to one of said deathes then, then this game can be for you.
On the other hand I am quite sure you should not look into spoilers beforehand, because I bet there are some which could equally skew the balance towards making it too easy for you.
So people comparing this to Nethack are quite on the right track here.
An integrated feature to let you keep some of the last frames in memory and create a gif out of those, might at least give you some comfort sharing your YASD with your friends or fellow sufferers.
However if you are not the kind to attempt min-maxing everything even with looming danger then you might not find this all that difficult. Because it teaches you not to be too greedy and risk too much.
Health is pretty much the hunger-clock here, at least in the beginning.
It has a good modding capability apparently as there are lots of interesting mods as well, should you ever get bored with what the game has to offer as shipped (which will take you looong).
Such a unique game. At it's most basic level, it is a side scrolling rogue-like/lite action game where you try to get better wands and spells and make it to the bottom and "win", all the while featuring a very cool set of physical, chemical, and sometimes bizarre interactions from their cool custom game engine. Only after you have "won" might you start seeing that you've only touched the surface and start to see how far down the rabbit hole goes. Just a heads up, if you're an unlucky lad like myself (or even if you are lucky), this game can be punishingly brutal at times.
The most important point first of all: the game is super fun, but it depends on your own frustration tolerance whether you stick with it.
Now that that's out of the way... The game manages the balancing act of appearing simple, but hiding much more (and I mean MUCH more) beneath the surface. Let's assume you can find a direct path straight down and kill the boss without dying in the meantime (laughable, I know, but stay tuned).
Then you haven't even seen a fraction of the actual game world. Because this extends far in all directions away from the obvious way down. All of it is randomly generated. If you really want to see everything in the game, you have to start several runs because not all secrets always spawn in your current world. And since its release several years ago the community still hasn't figured out some of the mysteries.
And I haven't even mentioned the really funny (and dangerous) simulated physics in the game. Yes, the world is destructible and different materials react with each other in a reasonably realistic way. But as soon as the sometimes ludicrously absurd spells (which can of course be combined with each other) of the different wands come into play, things get really interesting. Killing yourself while trying them out is of course part of the fun.
That's why you need perseverance if you want to have lasting fun with Noita. There is definitely enough content. But the game is simply not for everyone.
I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to git gud enough to actually get anywhere in the game. Gameplay-wise it's great, but all the restarts are getting frustrating.
