Description
Noita is a magical action roguelite set in a world where every pixel is physically simulated. Fight, explore, melt, burn, freeze and evaporate your way through the procedurally generated world using spells you've created yourself. Explore a variety of environments ranging from coal mines to freezing wastelands while delving deeper in search for unknown mysteries.

  • Pixel-based physics: Every pixel in the world is simulated. Burn, explode or melt anything. Swim in the blood of your foes! Enter a simulated world that is more interactive than anything you've seen before.
  • Your own magic: Create new spells as you delve deeper into the caverns. Use magic to crush your enemies and manipulate the world around you.
  • Procedurally generated world: Explore a unique world every time you play. Discover new environments as you adventure deeper.

  • Action roguelite: Death is permanent and always a looming threat. When you die, don’t despair, use what you’ve learned to get further on your next adventure.

Noita is being developed by Nolla Games, a company set up by 3 indie developers, all of whom have worked on their own projects in the past.

The three gents in question are:

Petri Purho
Petri is best known as the creator of Crayon Physics Deluxe. In his youth he also made a lot tiny freeware games. He has also made a bunch of board games, but he hasn't told about it to anyone. So please keep it a secret.

Olli Harjola
Olli released his first commercial game The Swapper in 2013. Besides indie games, he also dabbles in music, live visuals and making programming languages.

Arvi Teikari
Arvi is also known as Hempuli. Over the years he has released a lot of tiny experimental games, so many in fact that he is unaware of all of them. One of the games he remembers making is Baba Is You.

10/10 Must Buy Game!

Because you find random wands, random spells, random potions and random spells/wands/perks at the temples, the game makes you try many playstyles depending what you can cobble together. Maybe you can get a fast wand, some fast spells and a wand cast perk that turns you into a machinegun guy. Maybe you get a powerful explosion spell you can stick in a hollow egg or trigger spell and become grenade guy. Maybe you will summon minions to fight for you. In one playthough I had the combination of the vampire perk (drink blood to regain health), and the blood cloud spell I could summon whenever I liked to make it rain blood for me. In another I played stealth with the invisible perk and wand that was like a cannon. Every run is different and the game rewards you for being cautions and thinking about your strategy.

Incredible Fun Per Dollar Ratio

Everyone else has gone into detail so I will just say that this is one of my top 10 games of all time. It doesn’t matter how burned out I am with video games; I can always load Noita and lose myself for hours at a time. This is one of those “just one more try” games. This is also one of those games where you yell out loud when you die and start laughing. It’s just a pleasure through and through. I think I’m going to play it now.

Most Chaotic Game Ever

Found a wand that shot infnite homing pollen then bought a random teleportation spell and somehow ended up in an magic-alien lair with brutal magic-alien enemies, then they killed me after awhile. I wonder if I'll ever find that place again, or find out if the "tome of the celestial spheres" does anything. Minus one star becuase maybe one could be able to keep some things, idk--but I guess that's just the chaotic roguey randomness that is Noita. - If you don't think yourself dying is funny--this is not for you. - If you don't mind dying a lot/ don't care and might love a most gorgeous use pixilation by way of endless alchemical explosions and chaotic sandbox exploration for what it is--this is for you.

After 296 hours a successful run.

This game is fun, every run is different, and best yet it can be save/quit and resumed at he touch of a button. It is a great game if you have 15 min to play or have lots of random distractions. My one successful run took about 1.5 hours, and I played though it in 2 secessions. The game has an increadable amount of places to explore that are compleatly unrelated to finishing the game. If you think you should be able to do it you probably can in the game.

Tantalizing & frustrating as alchemy

I came for the physics, stayed for the lore, and left for the difficulty. On the positive side, each obstacle overcome or small secret uncovered was thrilling, and drove me like a madness to go deeper. On the negative side, this involved lots of attempts that yielded nothing, peppered with occasional attempts that yielded a little - just enough to compel me to keep working toward an elusive fantastical goal that for me, never came... because it was just too hard. After I stopped playing, I did go and read about all the secrets that I wasn't able to reach, and I enjoyed them just as thoroughly as those I uncovered naturally through playing. The team did a great job building a compelling world that fits the theme of the all-consuming quest for arcane knowledge. It's just that a lot of it is hidden behind incredible difficulty and complexity - which is a great metaphor, but tragically unsatisfying for me. It could have been a 4/5 (or even 5/5) if it was not quite so hard, or if it included lower-difficulty options. If you look for that level of fight in a game (which you might, since you're looking at a roguelike), then I heartily recommend this. Even if you don't, though, I did enjoy this for many hours without even finishing it, so you probably would as well.
