Description
Noita is a magical action roguelite set in a world where every pixel is physically simulated. Fight, explore, melt, burn, freeze and evaporate your way through the procedurally generated world using spells you've created yourself. Explore a variety of environments ranging from coal mines to freezing wastelands while delving deeper in search for unknown mysteries.

  • Pixel-based physics: Every pixel in the world is simulated. Burn, explode or melt anything. Swim in the blood of your foes! Enter a simulated world that is more interactive than anything you've seen before.
  • Your own magic: Create new spells as you delve deeper into the caverns. Use magic to crush your enemies and manipulate the world around you.
  • Procedurally generated world: Explore a unique world every time you play. Discover new environments as you adventure deeper.

  • Action roguelite: Death is permanent and always a looming threat. When you die, don’t despair, use what you’ve learned to get further on your next adventure.

Noita is being developed by Nolla Games, a company set up by 3 indie developers, all of whom have worked on their own projects in the past.

The three gents in question are:

Petri Purho
Petri is best known as the creator of Crayon Physics Deluxe. In his youth he also made a lot tiny freeware games. He has also made a bunch of board games, but he hasn't told about it to anyone. So please keep it a secret.

Olli Harjola
Olli released his first commercial game The Swapper in 2013. Besides indie games, he also dabbles in music, live visuals and making programming languages.

Arvi Teikari
Arvi is also known as Hempuli. Over the years he has released a lot of tiny experimental games, so many in fact that he is unaware of all of them. One of the games he remembers making is Baba Is You.

In theory great, in practice grating

A physics based game where you're supposed to do your own builds to get whacky strong, sounded like it's exactly up my alley, -Spent one whole night (20h-4h) without looking up any information, I might have gotten as far as level 3 or 4 but by that point I was allways hopelessly outmatched. -Spent another afternoon stubbornly banging my head against the wall, because the phyics are exciting. -At some point I got so utterly frustrated by allways having the worst RNG after 25 minutes of super careful playing, just to see a still actually crap weapon robbed from me in 45 seconds... I started savescumming. -I'm pretty sure the game punishes you for savescumming, it will start flashing :-( @ and # at some point if you keep inserting the same save, and just be more unfair. -Spent another whole night trying like hell to get some wands down to the lower levels so I could try out a variety of stuff... -The next day I had a full inventory and a save at level 4-5 or so. All the stuff I brought and built was utter shite. Only thing I learned is how to cheese the terrain and how you will allways anger the gods, so don't even think about saving hearts for backtracking in case you might be able to pull of more than one level with a healthbar. -Resigned myself to research the game. -Beat the game after some short video toturials, another afternoon and a shitload of savescumming, only thing that saved me was one particular spell that happened to be OP, it wasn't a particularly well built wand. -Started doing more serious research, had one or two decent runs without savescum where I found another method of backtracking... Still not sure what the point is since I can't edit wands in the level, or find a way to cheese the shop so I can get the heart at my convenience. -Spent another day dying "wealthy" (more than 500g) in level 1. RNGeesus must hate me. To anybody saying noita is actually easy and the exploration is the fun part and blabla... F you! Sigh, time to mod.

Noita is the game of my dreams

I feel as though all my life starting way back to my days on the NES as a small child I have searched for a game that ticked off all the boxes and for me Noita is that game. Non-stop action, a cryptic world of the arcane and the most incredible spell customization system of any game. I've been playing Noita for like 4 years now and I always come back to it for more because every run is challenging and unique.

It's good... it's bad... it's Noita.

You think that's a good wand? No, it will kill you. You think that guy's friendly? Nope, he wants to kill you. Do you think that that perk you got is good? Well, chances are it won't save you. P.S. Acid is not your friend.

An Exploration Roguelike Survivor

I've played plenty of survival games, and this one is by far one of the most interesting. The premise is simple: you are a wizard who starts with two wands and a potion, and you must survive the hostile environment, whether it’s NPCs or the elements. But there's more: at the end of each biome, you are given a choice to customize your wand. This is where experimentation comes into play. There are many ways to change how your wand behaves and functions. With that in mind, your creativity will make or break your run, and of course, like any other roguelike, you will die and lose everything. This means starting off fresh with random starting wands and potions. What I have observed so far is that you are given a lot of freedom, which is kind of odd because usually in this genre, you are confronted by a boss at the end of each level. In Noita, however, you need to find the boss, meaning you can actually just explore and miss the big fight entirely if you can survive, that is. Furthermore, the game is super hard, and the enemies are deadly, but don't let that discourage you. It can be very rewarding, so don't simply rush to the next biome; explore as much as you can. But take calculated risks and watch out for that health bar. As long as you make the necessary precautions when approaching enemies, you will be fine. You will eventually get to learn the mechanics better. The game only gives an intro in the beginning, but there's a lot more to it, so keep playing and good luck!
