No Man's Sky: Breach update is here!

Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man's Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.

In No Man's Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you'll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before - and perhaps never will again.

Now including...

Play with all major updates since launch: Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, NEXT, The Abyss, Visions, the 2.0 BEYOND update, Synthesis, Living Ship, Exo Mech, Desolation and the 3.0 update, ORIGINS, Next Generation, Companions, Expeditions, Prisms, Frontiers, Sentinel, Outlaws, Endurance, Waypoint (4.0), Fractal, Interceptor, Echoes, Omega, Orbital, Worlds Part I (5.0), Worlds Part II, Relics, Beacon and VOYAGERS (6.0).

And now with added Cross-Save! No Man’s Sky now supports Cross-Play and Cross-Save between a huge number of platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox One and Series X/S, Game Pass, GOG, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PlayStation VR 1 & 2 and PCVR.

Available for PC and Mac (see recommended and minimum specs for details).

An epic voyage to the centre of a shared universe awaits, allowing you to explore, trade, fight and survive alone or with friends.

Embark on an epic voyage

At the centre of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you'll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.

Find your own destiny

Your voyage through No Man's Sky is up to you. Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry.

Or a trader? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them for the highest prices. Invest in more cargo space and you'll reap huge rewards.

Or perhaps an explorer? Go beyond the known frontier and discover places and things that no one has ever seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump ever farther, and strengthen your suit for survival in toxic environments that would kill the unwary.

Share your journey

The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions vie for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own...

The usual complaints, plus some new ones...

We all know by now that the gameplay is repetitive, uninspiring, repetitive, shallow, and repetitive, so I won't bother going over that again. We also know that the PC version has had Arkham Knight levels of performance and stability issues, so I'll skip that too. Now, onto my own personal grievances with this "game": First, even ignoring the technical issues, this is a lazy PC port. Mouse and keyboard controls in the ship are awkward, having to hold the mouse button down on most (but oddly not all) things to click is tiresome, the fact that the mouse pointer resets to the centre of the screen each time you open a sub-menu is really irksome, sometimes right-mouse acts as a back button and sometimes it doesn't, and the keyboard shortcuts in the menu are baffling. A lack of decent options for tweaking the visuals is the icing on the cake. Repetitiveness aside, I've run across a few issues with gameplay that break what little immersion there is: * Stand in the hangar in a space station for a while and marvel at how more than one of the same alien/ship combo can be in the hangar at a time, and how each space station just has half a dozen aliens that come and go endlessly (something that can be exploited for cash: invariably you'll have one that will buy a particular item at double its market value and another that has a ready supply of that item; just buy up all the stock, sell it on, and wait for the seller to return with a magically refilled inventory/ Rinse, repeat.) * The much-vaunted world generation results in building floating in the air or buried in the rocks, glitched out physical structures, and some unbelievable combinations of climate, geography, and distribution of flora/fauna. * That stupid "letterbox the screen and bang on about 'milestones'" business is unbearable -- I've died more than once as a result of the game taking control away from me at awkward moments. In short this is buggy, shallow, ill-conceived, and does not deserve the price tag.

Redeemed

The developers have atoned for the mistakes made before launch and with continual development since, they have finally delivered what was promised so long ago.

A Mix of Good and Bad

With over 60 hours of gameplay in, here's what I've seen so far: Pro's: - Lots and LOTS of room to explore, even with limited planet types. The different types of loot/resources that randomly spawn for each keep it interesting. - Base-building is overall nicely detailed and varied enough to keep it interesting over time, especially as new components get unlocked. - Combat isn't too difficult, but varied enough between dogfights, annoying sentinel robots and starships to give some good variety. The upgrades you can get for weapons do make a difference, and with some opponents you have to figure out how to soften them up in order to take them down. - The different races/factions have their own agendas and values, and building up good reputation with them does pay off. - Crafting uses a wide range of possible resources, as well as some things needing components you craft from other stuff. As you get farther into it, it seems like the most difficult/costly things you really only end up making to sell, but enough actually have some use to make it worthwhile for more than making a quick (or not-so-quick) buck. - The limited inventory system before the Beyond update was really frustrating, but that's now been fixed. Cons: - The worst by far are some of the bugs. Some are annoying and will close off a quest/storyline but let you keep playing. In my main game, I no longer receive the glyphs like I'm supposed to, which you need to operate the alien teleporters. Others will kill you outright, like landing on the wrong freighter and suddenly getting hurled into deep space and death. As a result, saving often is CRITICAL. - It does get more than a little grindy in places when you're having to run from one star system to another to collect the specific resources you need for your next quest/mission/project. Overall it's worth playing, though be warned the ongoing bugs do still make for frustration as you do so.

High potential, terrible execution.

I wanted to love this game, I really did. It has such a great potential and the fun that can be had is clearly visible through the cracks. But it almost seems like the Hello Games really tries to stop you from enjoying it - So many years later, and it's still ridden with bugs. Some were reported months or even years ago. Crushes, getting stuck, corrupted saves, losing hours of progress. Or even just minor but annoying bugs that show indifference or lack of attention to details from the developers. The User Interface is horrendous. It's inconsistent, lacking and confusing. It's struggle with the controls, with the inventory management, you expect to find information and details and it's just missing and you generally waste a lot of time on poor UI/UX design. Not to mention the new user experience, seems like these days devs just expect you to learn the game on youtube from others who already figured it out, and it's usually ok but the so many things and details are not explained or even acknowledged in the game that you'll be missing a lot unless you're willing to spend good time reading the wiki or watching tutorials. It's a shame, this should have been a great game.

Really Great Game

Owned this since 2016 and have enjoyed every moment of it. Never really experienced many bugs, and the improvements over the years have been amazing. There's something endearing about roaming the universe, collecting craft, discovering creatures and planets. Building outposts, getting vehicles, riding beasts and obtaining armadas has just been gravy. Can't wait to see what comes next.
