No Man's Sky: Breach update is here!

Inspired by the adventure and imagination that we love from classic science-fiction, No Man's Sky presents you with a galaxy to explore, filled with unique planets and lifeforms, and constant danger and action.

In No Man's Sky, every star is the light of a distant sun, each orbited by planets filled with life, and you can go to any of them you choose. Fly smoothly from deep space to planetary surfaces, with no loading screens, and no limits. In this infinite procedurally generated universe, you'll discover places and creatures that no other players have seen before - and perhaps never will again.

Now including...

Play with all major updates since launch: Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, NEXT, The Abyss, Visions, the 2.0 BEYOND update, Synthesis, Living Ship, Exo Mech, Desolation and the 3.0 update, ORIGINS, Next Generation, Companions, Expeditions, Prisms, Frontiers, Sentinel, Outlaws, Endurance, Waypoint (4.0), Fractal, Interceptor, Echoes, Omega, Orbital, Worlds Part I (5.0), Worlds Part II, Relics, Beacon and VOYAGERS (6.0).

And now with added Cross-Save! No Man’s Sky now supports Cross-Play and Cross-Save between a huge number of platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox One and Series X/S, Game Pass, GOG, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, PlayStation VR 1 & 2 and PCVR.

Available for PC and Mac (see recommended and minimum specs for details).

An epic voyage to the centre of a shared universe awaits, allowing you to explore, trade, fight and survive alone or with friends.

Embark on an epic voyage

At the centre of the galaxy lies an irresistible pulse which draws you on a journey towards it to learn the true nature of the cosmos. But, facing hostile creatures and fierce pirates, you'll know that death comes at a cost, and survival will be down to the choices you make over how you upgrade your ship, your weapon and suit.

Find your own destiny

Your voyage through No Man's Sky is up to you. Will you be a fighter, preying on the weak and taking their riches, or taking out pirates for their bounties? Power is yours if you upgrade your ship for speed and weaponry.

Or a trader? Find rich resources on forgotten worlds and exploit them for the highest prices. Invest in more cargo space and you'll reap huge rewards.

Or perhaps an explorer? Go beyond the known frontier and discover places and things that no one has ever seen before. Upgrade your engines to jump ever farther, and strengthen your suit for survival in toxic environments that would kill the unwary.

Share your journey

The galaxy is a living, breathing place. Trade convoys travel between stars, factions vie for territory, pirates hunt the unwary, and the police are ever watching. Every other player lives in the same galaxy, and you can choose to share your discoveries with them on a map that spans known space. Perhaps you will see the results of their actions as well as your own...

Slow and repetative

This game could have worked for me if it wasn't so bloody slow and grindy. You'll spend most of your time walking places at a slow pace and grinding for materials. So if this is what you enjoy then this game is for you.

Good, but can be much better

I've heard about this game a long time ago, but I only managed to play it this year. It's fun, with nice music and effects, and there's a lot to build and explore. It makes much more sense to play in survival mode, as that's the only mode where most of the production buildings are really useful. It's a good sandbox, but it's a bit empty. Most of the time you are against the harsh environment, which is also pretty challenging and interesting. More enemies and challenges could make this game far better than it is. I found the idea with archaeology pretty cool, but it's incomplete. It's fun to dig for different bones, but what's next? There's so much potential in this game, I hope that the developers will continue to improve it.

2019, it's ok but by far not great.

I got this game in 2019, when it seems like most of the birth defects are fixed, now it's game as it was supposed to be. 1) Performance - it's pretty bad. I have i7 8700k and Vega64 on water and there is still some stuttering. And it's not like the image is stunning or anything. On a laptop with 950m and 4720hq it barely playable in 720p. 2) Story - well, there is one for a checkbox, but that's not what this game is about, so does not matter, even though the "story twist" was a bummer for me. I get it's a game, but it makes it kinda double pointless. 3) Space exploration, recover all recipes, then find a planet, get resources, build base, repeat. No second layer of gameplay, with automation like in minecraft or factorio 4) Non functional mechanics... some resources when mined with industrial components just don't work. 5) Generated animals and planet... we're talking "Spore" on steroids here. I buried almost 120 hours into this "minecraft in space" and don't plan to come back, I played 844 hours in factorio and still feel like coming back sometime. So the latter is half the price and 10x the fun.

I liked the game at launch much more...

This game got a lot of criticism at the start. I'm not gonna write it was undeserved - but personally, I got exactly that kind of game I was waiting for. It was rough around the edges but a lot of the issues were addressed in the free updates that were introducing new stuff as well. And now, it is my problem. For me, NMS was game about (potentially) never ending journey. I wasn't big fan of building bases but it worked rather well with new portals system. The *Atlas Rises* update was the last I truly enjoyed. Now, the game is much more stationary, focused on base building and complex crafting mechanics with refinering, etc. It isn't game about journey and exploration. It's overly complex for my taste. Playing old versions (I'm glad I made backup of old installers) I miss a lot of quality-of-life changes. I even tried to play new updates in similar way I play the old ones, but it doesn't really work...

No man's rinse/repeat

TONS of potential... but it is just that, potential. Unrealized potential. I have roughly 10 hours into the game and if you've played the game for 5 minutes, you've played it for 10 hours. The game starts out with you and your busted up ship stranded on a random planet. You begin by finding resources to repair your ship, fuel your ship, and charge your suit systems. And that's it. I fixed my ship and now I travel to new planets to rinse/repeat every time. To make matters worse, every planet feels the same. Every planet feels lifeless and devoid of any personality (though there is life, they all look/feel the same). The only real significant difference between planets seems to be the quantity of the rarer resources (one planet has tons of gold, another has tons of copper, another has tons of something else) but overall, I've been on 6 different planets so far and so far, they all felt like one uninspired procedurally generated blob of "who cares?". Meter management is super easy, but super boring. Get off on a toxic planet and explore for a while and you have to resupply your suit's toxic resistance that deteriorates over time, it's super easy to do which is why it just feels like a useless gimmick of a mechanic rather than an actual feature. Get off on the next planet and rather than being toxic, it is super cold, and you need the same resources to fill the continually depleting resource. To fuel your ship you need plutonium, same with your gun and a few other systems, which would be an interesting mechanic IF you couldn't find plutonium every 5 feet. Overall, No Man's Sky has a ton of potential, but right now it is so under developed (in terms of being shallow) that I woke up the next day and don't care to load up the game. I'm reminded of an ARPG like Diablo, a loot grinder, but unlike Diablo, where you can find an interesting sword or a cool new spell, you just find the same stuff over and over. I'm seriously considering a refund, if only for the bugs.
